Ok I posted in another forum forgetting the name of the plant .
Once ID'd ( I received it from a friend last week and forgot the name. ) We got to the issue at hand.
Is my Plumeria sick?
I had noticed that the leaves were turning black at the tip
and at the base where the new leaves were coming up.
I really couldn't get a good pic with my camera, but someone provided me with a link
to a site that showed what black tip looked like and how to treat it.
In my opinion It seems to be black tip, to the others in the thread they seem to think not.
Here's what i have:
The tips of several leaves turned black and fell off.
only one left and its tip is black.
i have some new grow coming in and it seems to be speckled with black
spots.
The woody stem of the plant is very mushy and soft. ( it wasn't a week ago )
new to this plant and would like some assistance.
if anyone needs better pic's i can try to get better ones ,
but heres what i did take so far.
Newbie needs help, sick Plumeria.Black Tip???
It's not black tip. Black tip looks totally different and looks like this: http://www.plumeria101.com/problems/black_tip.html Black tip affects the stem's tip, not the leaves.
It looks like your plumie has no leaves because it has no roots. Or maybe the roots have rotted? You didn't say whether this is a cutting or a plant. It looks like a cutting that maybe started to root and put out one leaf which is dying back. The stem looks very wrinkled like it is dehydrated. Getting it to root may be difficult now, but you can try by placing it on a heat mat and misting regularly. The good news is that the tip still looks green so that you can save it by grafting the top two inches. I would pull off that leaf because transpiration is causing water loss, and you can't afford to lose any more water out of that stem. Put it on a heat mat 24/7. Check the Sticky Thread for more instructions about rooting cuttings and also check this link: http://www.plumeria101.com/cuttings101.html
For those that are curious about this, this conversation continued -- well, sort of -- over here: http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/670520/#new It turns out that the said plumeria had been sitting in someone's compost pile for a year and was rotting! If only we had those minor details before we went to great lengths to help. You're welcome, GuardianGirl!
yeah Just a little minor detail left out. = )
Thanks for all your help clare.
I did learn a lot though so it wasnt for nothing.
Thanks again.

Ha! Well, you didn't know. It's kind of a bummer it wasn't rescued a little sooner. I was happy to help, GG. I'm glad you've got some new plumeria cuttings on the way:-)
