Ursula has offered a wonderful selection but I am interested in onlyone, rodophiala bagnoldi. If somebody plans to buy from Ursula, and would let me piggy-back my order, pls send me a d-mail. thanks.

edited to add: I will gladly pay my share of postage from Chile to you and then 52 cents from you to my house. I just don't have a use for 5 types of seeds, lol

mini-coopers: I got a confirmation from Ursula, with payments instructions. for a quick & rough calculation, add the cost of your seeds, plus 50 cents shipping per pack from Chile to vossner, plus about $1 from vossner to you. But don't send anything yet, let me work the numbers carefully and I will send you a dmail.

Riverland, I will request the rodophiala rhodolirion and janet, since postage applies to 10 packets, I'm afraid you will have to pick 2 out of your three. I'll do my best to accomodate your three, but pls pick 2, just in case I can't.

Illiquin, your tropaeolorum is confirmed. yeah!

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Thanks for letting me in! I'll wait for the dmail on the $ total. Paypal?

Suzy

East Texas, United States(Zone 8a)

OK mini-coopers. The entire order has been confirmed and I have already paypaled Ursula. Chilean postage came to 32 cents per package. Postage from me should be 52 cents per participant, except zarcanat, who will pay 63 cents. You can send me a ck or paypal me at vossner@earthlink.net. For your convenience, I have calculated paypal fees. Ursula is sending a surprise bonus and same will split equally among participants. Isn't that nice of her!

vossner $3.32

Riverland $10.48 or $11.08 if pp, paypal received, seeds received

zarcanat US$12.60 or US$13.27 if pp paypal received , seeds received

Illoquin $5.84 or $6.31 if pp, ck mailed, paypal received , seeds received

JanetS $10.48 or $11.08 if pp, paypal received, seeds received

my address in the Address Exchange is current, pls verify that yours is current or send me a dmail with the correct address. Thank you for joining me in this endeavor, I really wanted those seeds. May we all have beautiful flowers in 1 year (or maybe 2)!

Greetings, fellow mini-coopers! Seeds arrived today and they are all packed, ready for the 2nd leg of their journey. Ursula was kind to send us a bonus, geranium pyrenaicum "Bill Wallis", which I divided equally among us. Ursula says they will thrive in any climate.

caution, the seeds wrapped in foil are very tiny, so pls open carefully. Enjoy and look forward to seeing your pics of germinated seeds.

Finally, here is an except of the note that Ursula sent:
"You can find the sowing/growing info for each species in the PFiles. If you or any other member of the coop have additional questions, plese feel free to contact me. Hugs, Ursula"

Happy sowing!

Christmas gift on the way!

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Ack, Vossner, Looks like my idea of sending $7.00 cash didn't work -- can we wait just one or two more days in case it got held up in Thanksgiving traffic? I am sure it will show up there, but if it doesn't I'll resend -- maybe a check this time.

So sorry, I have sent cash in the mail plenty of times with good luck. I'll touch base again on Friday night.

Suzy

East Texas, United States(Zone 8a)

Suzy, that will be fine. I will mail your seeds tomorrow and we will communicate on friday. Of course, it I should get an envelope before then, I will let you know immediately.

Braselton, GA(Zone 7b)

Thanks Nery! Look forward to getting these...nice of you to include me too!!

Northeast, LA(Zone 8a)

I sure hope I can make a go of these. I am supposed to get a small greenhouse for Christmas. I think they will have a lot better chance in there. Thanks Nery

Northeast, LA(Zone 8a)

You have dmail( haven't received any seeds)

Northeast, LA(Zone 8a)

Sorry I did receive them this morning. Gee you might know I'd get them right after asking

Braselton, GA(Zone 7b)

Mine arrived..thanks!

Montreal, QC(Zone 4b)

Mine arrived yesterday, thank you so much for the trouble.

Nathalie

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

I received mine yesterday, too. Thanks, Vossner.

Suzy

I am sooooo excited! My rhodophiala bagnoldi is germinating. I'm not much of a seed sower, so this makes it double thrilling.

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Congratulations, Vossner!!! Excellent news. I haven't even started my Tropo yet -- I'm afraid! Maybe your news will give me the incentive I need to get them going.

Suzy

Braselton, GA(Zone 7b)

Haven't started mine yet either....better get going huh!! Congrats Nery!

Northeast, LA(Zone 8a)

My rhodophiala bagnoldi are about 4 inches tall. but I have not gotten the rodophiala rhodolirion to germinate. It needs stratifying and I have done that ,but I really don't know what I am doing.

East Texas, United States(Zone 8a)

that's why I posted here, to inspire you. Heck, it has inspired me to sow some of the seeds I bought last year!

East Texas, United States(Zone 8a)

yipee, River. Maybe te rhodolirion is slower to germinate.

Braselton, GA(Zone 7b)

I haven't had time to do anything!! With Christmas and the holidays it has been wild!! So hopefully I will get some sowing done in the next couple of weeks...it was 70 degrees here this weekend...lol...I think WINTER is supposed to be here right?

East Texas, United States(Zone 8a)

here is a pic of the rhodophiala bagnoldi seedlings. I'm gonna add to PF also. I am so scared of losing them, wonder if it's time to transplant. They have been outdoors the entire time and have not been bothered by anything. So far, tough little plants.

Nery that's great I think I have 1 left. They were doing great inside. I put them in the greenhouse after Christmas. We had a horrible storm and it mangled the greenhouse so all my delicate plants took a beating in those high winds. I don't think I am going to fool with them any more. It was fun though to get them up and going.

East Texas, United States(Zone 8a)

People I trust and respect have recommended not moving them for 12-18 months. I hope they make it that long. Sorry you lost yours, Riverland

Santiago, Chile(Zone 9b)

Riverland, don't give up. R. bagnoldi is much tougher than you think. The bulbs/seeds survive dormant in the Atacama Desert as much as 20 years if there is no rain. The days in the desert are very hot and the nights very cold (sometime rocks explode due to the temp. differences). When conditions are adverse, they go dormant.

Don't be tempted to dig them out in order not to damage the bulbils - wait until they are one year old. Water them sparingly.

A. exserens is a high Andean species (equivalent to a zone 6b). They have a dormant period as well. Here applies the same as with the Rhodophiala bulbils: don't be tempted to transplant the brittle rhyzomes/fleshy roots before they are one year old. In the Andes mountains they emerge in late Spring/early Summer and bloom on the second half of Summer. However, you will probably have to wait two (maybe 3) years to see them bloom. Next year, plant them in your garden where the rhyzomes will not be disturbed.

I am sure you are doing far better with your seedlings than you believe!

Hugs,

Ursula

Northeast, LA(Zone 8a)

Ursula, Thank you so much for that info. I will take care of the pot to see if they will make it back I have several rodophia rhodolirion still hanging in there. My alstromeria are germinating now after being in the fridge for a while.
