Well I don't want to enter the contest because I don't have paypal being the main reason. However, I want to be the first to tell about you. You are one of the most generous people that I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. You came to the first Ga. Roundup and I could not believe the brugs that you brought. I mean you covered a hill side with the plants you brought. You must be a super packer for all of those plants to come from Mississippi to Georgia. Then I met you again at a former members house in Newnan. I walked away with some cuttings of hibiscus, that later died because of me, that I really wanted bad.
I do know you had arm trouble and I hope that has cleared up or getting better.
I hope you are getting over Katrina and things are looking up.

Thanks for the offer for the person that does get in.

Jim

Oh WOW Donna, you are such a kick. LOL. I know you have such special brugs too. 2 lucky people are going to be so thrilled. Good luck everyone. And you got Dick to post so you should get a prize too.

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

LOL you all. Please I am not looking for praise here. I have been a member 4 or 5 years now and just wondering what people have learned about me as a person. haven't been on brug forum much in over a year as I am just getting restarted with them thanks to so many members here. Just looking to repay much of the kindness the great people here at Daves have given me. Sure wish I was still able to send out a 1000 cutting like I used too.

Adrian, MI(Zone 5b)

Donna... we both had been in DG about the same time. i have read practically all post and threads u have in all forums, looked at all the sites of ur former garden/s. thru the years, i have admired ur passion not only in brugs but mainly for wildlife.

i am not good at showing public sentiment or recognition, therefore i do not know how to express what kudos others had or about to give u.

i had experienced being homeless at the same time seriously sick the past 3 yrs.... the very reason why i have not been on board to post @ DG until very recently, plus i lost the majority of my plant. it is difficult for me to express my desire publicly the wish to be able to begin my passion in gardening - the only joy in my life inspite of the hell i've been through.

i hope u understand where i am coming from and the desire to be considered as a candidate.

humbly,
ma vie

Donna, I know that you are a butterfly identifier extraordinaire. You know bflys very well, their host and nectar plants as well as other interesting tidbits. I am always anxious to read your posts and see your pictures in the butterfly forum.

I just looked at your web page and was amazed at how many pictures you have accumulated: wildbirds, baby birds, shorebirds, zoo birds, flowers, insects.....pretty remarkable.

So, kudos for all the pictures and information you so generously give on DG.

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

I hope over winter to add greatly to the bug and plant files when I have plenty of time on my hands lol

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

So true Gloria!

I just heard that Jamie, that new variegated brug with the yellow flower that Gary found, is going to be in the winners' box. I think it was a sport of CG. Now that is so exciting.

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

lol don't go telling all my secrets now. There will be some really nice new brugs in the box as well as a few old ones thanks to my friends that got me all hooked back up with them

lagrange, GA(Zone 7a)

Well now I have a grandson that asked me last week why all my flowers had names. And then he asked why there wasn't one named Jamie. I told him there was one but I didn't have one yet. That's his name. HUMMMMMMMM. Well maybe I better get a paypaler on here. LOL

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

Lol, Jim!

Donna, I know that you are not looking for praise, but I think that by reading these posts it can't help but to find you, lol.
I think that is apparent through your many threads and posts, that there is nothing about the natural world that is insignificant in your eyes, from the moth with the face only a mother could love to the delicious sight and smell of a brug in bloom. Your attention to the details, and your experiences have provided a wonderful journey for me and other Davers, who truly enjoy your passion for sharing what you love about this life through your pictures, your words and your one-woman round-ups.
It is impossible to write what we know about you, Donna, without all of these words of praise.
So just enjoy, lol! I know it makes everyone very happy that so many helped you out when it was time to start over.
Like the Wizard said, "A heart is not judged by how much you love, but by how much you are loved by others."

I do not know you, and I'm sorry that I don't. I have read your posts and know that you are a caring and loving person. The legacy that you have is said in the words of others. In just these brief posts it is oblivous the type of person you are. Remembering what a country lawyer told me one time,"you are what your are because someone made you that way". God bless you and that person. Elaine

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

come on now I have some really great brugs to the winners. Only 1 1/2 hours left to enter. I have Miss Emily Mc Kenzie, Bonnie Jean, Variegated Jamie, Pink Velvet, Autumn Treasure, Mountain Magic, L'Amour just to name a few. I have Adeline for the First place winner and hoping there is another piece in my bucket for the 2nd place winner too.

Pocahontas, TN(Zone 7b)

OK I'll post on the behalf of a very nice Mississippi Lady who says she isn't good with words. I would want her to have the cuttings.

"To describe you I'll use "B words": birds, brugs, butterfly garden, big heart, budding friendships, believer in God, believer in mankind and bounces back "

Oh Donna, those are so hot and so PINK. I just had Adeline bloom here and she is huge double PINK. And you have a great orange one too and even the yellow variegated.

I really think you didn't give enough time for people to see this. Anyway you can hold it over till 1 or 2 tomorrow? I just know some people will be so sad they missed the chance though your entries already are great.

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

O.K I will give it until noon tomorrow. So expectant winners be watching. My P.O. closes for lunch and then at 4:30. really need to ship tomorrow as we are going to have extremely bad weather wednesday and I won't risk leaving the house.

Baytown, TX(Zone 9b)

Donna you are very generous. Even when you have traded all you found a few more amaryllis for me.

I never heard you whine about hurricance Katrina and what she stole from you. You kept on going and was very blessed by DGers for it. You always have a kind word for everyone, and you enjoy all of Gods creations.

You are an amazing addition to Daves Garden.

Sandy ^8^

Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

If by miracle I should win I would like the cuttings to be sent to another DG'er of my choice.

.... This is what I know about Donna:

She loves her family

She is a fabulous cook

She loves gardening

She is a wonderful wildlife photographer

She loves Birds

She loves Butterflies

She has a heart the size of New York city and she would give you the shirt off her back. She is definitely generous

She is compassionate. If you need someone to lean on and to talk to you can always count on her

She does not allow people to influence her concern and love for others ... No matter what

She is sensitive

She honors her word

She loves to go places and do fun things

She suffers with pain and can no longer go everywhere and do everything. Sometimes she feels like she just can't go on. Still she always pulls through and has the will to live and move forward in her life

She still suffers due to Katrina but has never given up. Every gift great or small is considered a blessing by her.

She is a strong willed Woman's Woman.
She is full of good things!
Good grief ... this feels like an obituary ... ha! Girl, don't you dare :)

Pinellas Park, FL(Zone 9b)

Wow. Don't think I can add anything to the above. I only know you from the threads you participate in and we once had a trade back in 2004 when I was raising cats(insect type,LOL)

oops forgot Vicki knows me very well too. She should have been a judge lol. I can say the same about Vicki as well

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

everyone if I was still able I would send cuttings to all of you. It is such a waste to have to throw them away. I just can't do that kind of volume anymore. I am going to pot up as many small cutting as I can so maybe in spring for the plant swap some of you can get some or for postage as i am up to it. Sure wishing I had a new Hoop House right now lol. DH refuses to build me one.

Lord my ears are still burning Miss V.

Gary it will be a long way down lol. Var. Jamie grew beautifully for me and I have been giving away pieces here and there over summer and the winners of this contest are going to get a nice cutting too

Tulsa, OK(Zone 6b)

Donna, you are one of the most generous people I know! If you pick Jim (Georgiaredclay), I'll send the paypal for him.

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

I am not picking. I want this to be fair and no one feel like any favoritism has played apart in people that win. I have a panel of 5 judges, people that know me well

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

entries are closed and I await the judges decision

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

Good luck to all.

Pinellas Park, FL(Zone 9b)
