neighbor's MG,name?

Scottsdale, AZ

Saw this in a neighbor's yard I hadn't noticed before yesterday. The pics aren't showing how deep the color is becaue it was 8 a.m. and I was facing east, not to walk into their yard. The sun is behind the blooms so the colkor is diluted somewhet.

I'll be knocking on their door when I see it's time to collect seeds.

another shot

The purple seems to be where the bloom is fading, but I'm not sure about that.

last one.
I'll try to go back late afternoon to get ones with the sun at my back. The color might show better and if not sun blinded I might be able to also get a pic right into the throat

I hope that neighbor is not watching you from the window...LOL...they'll think you're a stalker! Look at this tricolor (heavenly blue) in the Plantfiles and I think you can see a little purple on the edges.

Those look similar but this one is definately a much darker blue. It's hard to capture in a pic, but will try later in the day

Jude save me some seeds if you are able to get some. Are you coming to Tucson??? If not I will see you at the spring swap for sure. I believe it is being held out your way.

Okay, this shot definitely has the purple on the edge. The color blue seems to vary from photo to photo, some dark and some lighter.

could be it. I don't know how to make sure what I'm looking at in a pic is the same as in life, maybe you or RC could instruct me without using technical terms since I'm much more of a novice than you know.

Could you photograph a seed pod? Are there any yet?

Scottsdale, AZ

no pods yet, waiting and watching. I'll try to stay on top of it daily not to miss an opportunity to gather them.

Looks like Heavenly Blue to me...love that blue!!

All the experts have declared it heavenly blue, so be it. I was hoping for something a little less common, but it's still very pretty.

Nothing wrong with heavenly blue. They don't call it "heavenly" for nothing! If you get permission to take seeds, save some for me. Mine are from one source and I would like to introduce a little genetic variation.

sure thing, I just have to get permission first but I don't think it will be a problem.

I'm going to check on it this morning, see how it survived the cold overnight temps. bet it wasn't protected.

scio, oregon, OR(Zone 8a)

If it's a huge plant, they probably couldn't protect it! I hope the seeds will still be viable!

Scottsdale, AZ

it's small and was unprotected. also no pods to date. drat!

La Salle, MI(Zone 5b)

hey_jude if you do get to get some seeds, I would love to have a few also :o)

There weren't any pods as of yesterday. All I've done this morning is check my yard and thankfully it looks like everything survived the drop in temps last night. I had everything covered well and thankfully the only damage was to a picture which was hanging on the side of the house at the patio. It was blown off the wall bu the wind gusts and broke a plate which was sitting below to catch wax from candles. One broken plate is nothing. Many in my area lost plenty of treasured plantings.

I'll check their MG about 10: when I have to go over that way. If there are everypods, I'll get the seeds, but I'm doubtful with our current weather.

Glad you got through the wind storm okay!
