Texas Mt. Laurel

I live in south Mississippi and have recently discovered via internet pictures and info on the Texas Mountain Laurel. My question is: Does anyone have experience growing this in my region? Does it do well? I'm just wondering if the humidity in our area would affect it, beautiful tree though.

I have 2 and they do wonderfully. Houston is pretty humid, too, and it doesn't seem to bother them at all. :-)

I've seen plenty all over Houston every time I've been there. I also recently saw some in Nacogdoches, TX in the humid Piney Woods of East Texas and they looked happy too.
