Mark, Lovely pictures! Please don't tell us these things are blooming now in your garden or I will get very jealous and probably have a hissy fit right here in front of everybody!

Glad to know all your neighbors garden -- which was the answer to a question I had either on this thread or the other one. Do you have contests against other communities, or any kind of show or public open garden day or anything? Does everybody have a greenhouse? I don't know why I am so curious - mebbe because you folks really do have Cottage Gardens! REAL ones LOL!

Mark, we have pulmonaria, but I don't grow any.

all pretty, but I really like the pink that you posted. I tend toward the pinks, anyway.

Jude, you go study, we'll hold down the fort until finals are over

Caistor, United Kingdom(Zone 8b)

Suzy......................... No, they arent in flower now, the photos were took earlier...........LOL
I wish they were in flower now, there isnt much that is really!!! The Schizostylis are all in flower and a few other things!! So, no need for your hissy fit.......................... LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ik, right, yes we do have a contest every year, but i have never entered it............. its called Caistor in bloom and there are a few categories that get judged, such as container gardens, pond gardens etc etc
When i get my national collection of crocosmia status, then part of the rules to that is that i have to have at least one open day a year............. So that will be real fun.
Not everyone has a greenhouse but i would say the majority do................... hey if you want to see the website for my village here is the link............. http://www.caistor.net/
That should tell you a bit about caistor and well all sorts of things!!
Have fun
Mark

Wheatfield, NY(Zone 6a)

oh, oh. another one to love. so many beautiful flowers that I don't even know. Neal, your pink garden needs these.

Caistor, United Kingdom(Zone 8b)

Gram.................. you never heard of Schizostylis???????????????
Oh dear........

Scottsdale, AZ

checking in a for a few minutes,

you're not alone, gram, they're new to me also.

I'll be on the look out for Schizostylis. That pale pink is a winner. One of my fav colors for flowers. That color (or lack of intense color) sets off the deeper tones and makes everything better. (in my humble opinion)

Caistor, United Kingdom(Zone 8b)

Hiya Jude

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh new to you too.............

See if you can find it, its called Pink Princess...............

Scottsdale, AZ

so far not in the US, only UK. Rats, how come we don't have them here?

Caistor, United Kingdom(Zone 8b)

Hmmmmmmm i dont know the answer to that one sweetie........................

Scottsdale, AZ

I've been searching in another window and cannot find sales in the US, but did notice something about an embargo against them being brought in.

Why in the world would that be? Also found someone writing from Portland who bought hers while in the UK and sneaked it back in.

Some things in life just aren't fair no matter which way you turn them around.

Gram, if you locate any, please D-mail me where you found them.

Scottsdale, AZ

OK, google searches didn't come up with any US for me, BUT

B&B has some, just not the PP. 25 for $37.also putting in Kaffir Lily, brings up more results.

Trying to find that PP.

Whidbey Island, WA(Zone 7a)

A friend gave me mine - I'll ask her where she got hers, but somehow I doubt she knows as she's had them a long time. They're in the same family as Crocosmia so it seems like they should be available in the U.S.

Wheatfield, NY(Zone 6a)

on the PlantFiles, they are under Hesperantha coccinea. seems like ForestFarm has some, as well as some other places.

be careful if you look under Kaffir lily. a lot of places call clivia Kaffir lily and that is not the same plant

Digging Dog Nursery has the 'Zeal Salmon', new this year
Fraser's Thimble Farm has several colors listed (I think they are Canadian but ship to the US. they charge for the cites certificate)

great info, thank you. I'm still new to DG and forget to look things up right here before searching elsewhere.

Caistor, United Kingdom(Zone 8b)

seems everyone love Schizostylis all of a sudden.........................LOL
Yes careful if you look at kafir lily......................... look at kaffir with one 'F' and kaffir with two 'F's. they are different plants!!!!

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

I'll join the "gotta have it, never knew it" crowd.
Mark, How many "f"s in the one we want??

Caistor, United Kingdom(Zone 8b)

Dave

I think its 2, but you will see when you search for it

Caistor, United Kingdom(Zone 8b)

Dave, yep 2 'F's
one F is clivia plants

Wheatfield, NY(Zone 6a)

but don't trust the web sites you look at to spell it right

Caistor, United Kingdom(Zone 8b)

Yeah that is true gram...................................... if its a clivia then it will say so.................... or it should!!!

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

Thank you both!
