Fuzzy Maple and White Euonymus seed capsule

Seale, AL(Zone 8b)

I am trying to identify a type of Maple. It is a brown double samari winged fruit and where the seed itself is stored is puby. The back of the leaf is puby too. Red fall color. My camera won't down load on this computer. The thimg about the leaves is strange. If you take your right hand these leave s look just like it. smooth up the side where the little finger is, small "v" shaped lobing where the space s between your other fingers would be. The deepest "v" is just like between your thumb and first finger. Somebody told me a Sand maple, but I have never heard of one and didn't find anything googling.

Also, can anybody tell me, is it when the fruit floats or sinks it is viable of the Maples?

Then I got a bunch of some sort of Euonymus seed. Been all over the place bugging people today to see if anybody could identify it. They got me to the proper genus only. I have tried googling with no luck.

From the end of the petiole to the tip of the leaf is about 2-3". Forget the proper term right now for that, but you don't see the venation on the back. The leaf edge is serrated. The seed capsule is white and the seeds are abright orange. Opposite leaves and the bus looks like it trying to make three leave s at once.

Any help would be appreciated.

Methinks you'll have to get that camera fixed! Or have you got a scanner?

Resin, the problem is I am not computer literate. I still can't figure out how to down load. The camera was a gift from a friend who got a new one. This is a polaroid Photo Max PDC 640. When I tried to download it, I get that it not compataible with windows 95 or 98 and windows NT. I went to polaroids site and tried to read. I know when I start my computer the screen says windows XP.

The article I read said only USB port downloads are supported and I have no idea what a USB port is. The college computers won't let you download programs. I to old to start college over, so I am not taking a chance at getting kiced out by chancing downloading it there.

it frustrating cuz I got a bunch of tree shots from down here and my yard. Need to get it figured out soon I hope. I got a bunch of Oak seedlings that are the oddest thing and need some critque on. Think all these different Oaks played hanky panky in the yard when I wasn't looking.

No scanner.

Does the maple have seed on it now? Red maple usually sets seed in early spring. I think it is too late for Silver maples too. You could look up pictures of Florida maple or Sugar maple and see if they match.

Yep has seed on it now and dried. Know it's not the Silver, Sugar or Flordia Maples. Those I can id well.

The USB ports are the same as where a mouse would plug in. There are some very sharp people in the Computer Talk forum who could probably help you. It's in the Home forums

Thanks ClayPa for that tip. Will find that forum and mayeb they can help me.

Ok foudn out what my fuzzy Maple seed s are finally. It called a Paperbark Maple, Acer griseum.

That's one tree down and one still to go.

Anybody grow this tree? Can you share with me the best way to start these Maple seeds, please somebody?

Starlight,

A. griseum makes a lot of seed that is not viable. Before you get too involved, try cracking a few open and see if there's anything inside of them. I almost always find an empty chamber when I look inside. From Dirr's Book: "a hot water treatment (180 degrees) followed by 24 hour soak. The sound seed sink, hollow float;" Now I'll step aside and let someone who has actually done it go into more detail.

Ernie

Not necessarily - only if you're using a USB mouse! A lot of computers use PS/2 mice, which plug into a different socket.

For info on USB, see here:
