Snowing in Alberta.....!! Its only September! I am travelling back next Thrusday, will the snow be gone and sunny and warm by then.....
I keep hoping global warming will notch Alberta up a zone or two....

New gardener from Brampton ON, northwest of Toronto that most think of as a bedroom community, but still has a neighborhood called Flowertown due to the huge number of greenhouses in the area... the city has absolutely stunning public gardens, a few blocks from my house there is a profusion of beautiful annuals ... if anyone is nearby would love to talk about how to move from newbie gardener to more experienced cultivator...

I'm not *really* close to you, but not too far away - just a couple of hours. As far as any questions, just ask away! We have a lot of very skilled and knowledgable gardeners here that will be more than willing to help out.

I'm a Canadian but now I live in Iowa. I moved here 6 years ago for my job. But I visit home a lot (in Halifax). Not sure if I can put myself on the map or not...

We aren't limiting the map to Canadians who just live in Canada CMoxon. Please join us. :)

edited to say I know the map isn't available right now but you could try adding your pin. I've contacted the site owner but have no idea how long the map(s) will be unavailable.

Hi everyone,

I just became a paid up member and have placed my pin on the map. That is in Granville beach Nova Scotia. The weather has been mild of late and my wife and I took a break and played nine holes of golf today. It was 17 degrees a couple of days ago and melted the last remaining drifts of snow from the 35cm we got in November. I retired this spring and intend to do some gardening as we have a micro climate here zone 6A I am told.
Anyway hi to all you fellow Canadian members.

Hi Eastjack! I grew up in Halifax. Love visiting Nova Scotia and Granville Beach is a lovely area. Very scenic. Yes, some parts of NS are zone 6A, like my parents, and you are so lucky to have that. I'm a full zone behind you. Welcome to DG!

Bumping this one up.. long time since I was on the forum as I have been quite ill but I have renewed my membership and am popping in to say hello.. reminder to all.. lived in Canada for years and years then went to the UK.. well guess what we are coming home, flying back on Easter Monday for good, it is big relief and can't wait to see ther Lower Mainland in BC again.

DUH - I went to try to add my location and just could not get the gold dot to move, so maybe you could add Never Rest Farm, south of Broadview, SK. for me

There are a lot of places that aren't add-able on the map, cuz they're not familiar to some (like Brandon, Manitoba isn't available on FaceBook lol)

So, nevrest - I suppose you'll be getting "the boys" soon, and will then send them to me. I'm looking forward to seeing your pics on the gnome trips thread.

I'm looking forward to having them in Calgary, too! Is it possible I may have them for December 4th? I'm going to the Devonion Gardens, just south of Edmonton, and would love to have pics of them there. As well as my Christmas tree, too. I got that decorated last night, so I'm ready for 'em ^_^

Ok I too have now marked the map. We here in Ladysmith have been having a just wonderful Winter? and early Spring. My garden is way ahead of normal

I am new to this site and to forums in general. Is this only about the map or are other topics suitable. For instance, I am wondering about planting a delphinium under or close to a Bitternut (Juglone family ), and would like to know if anyone has experience with how delphs will fare with juglone toxicity.

Wondering how many Canadians are left. I see the number of SUBSCRIBERS to DG is, and has been for quite a long time, dropping by 20-30 people a week. At that rate, in 3 years there won't be any left and DG will be modeled completely for the casual users who don't pay a membership.
