Is it some form of nerine?

Fate, TX(Zone 8a)

that is so pretty janet. my nerine, i think, bit the dust and i never got to see it bloom. too dry here.

Braselton, GA(Zone 7b)

I found it, thanks for the "lead" I had no idea what it might be called, just thought it was most likely in the amaryllis family....if they multifply well Barb I will share with you next year!

Fate, TX(Zone 8a)

i am going to make a list for you as to my wins. i have won other things besides the watsonia. you can share in any of the things i have bought................or not. just pick and choose. i have to wind whatever we get up by the 22nd. that will be 14 days and they won't combine shipping on any outside that date. i think i will dmail you with list and prices.

and thanks for the nerine offer. i would love one.

Fate, TX(Zone 8a)

o.k. you asked to be kept informed of the damage that janet and i did. here it is.

we got 10 of each:

WATSONIA
peach glow
flamboyant
early dawn
double vision
cherry splash
ablaze
raspberry delight

TRITONIA
salmon run

SPARAXIS
yellow......i forget the name

DICHELOSTEMA
pink diamond
ida maia

i also got 10 constantinople daffs and 1 allium anipeloprasm (spelling?)........some sort of mexican allium. janet was a great buying/shopping buddy. never once told me no. anyways now we want yall to congratulate us and tell us how good we did. cost was about 50 for her and 60 for me. and if someone knows where i could have gotten these cheaper DO NOT TELL ME AND FOR SURE DON'T TELL JANET. LOL.

East Texas, United States(Zone 8a)

Congratulations, you & Janet did fabulous!!!!

Braselton, GA(Zone 7b)

LOL, Barb you are too funny! I wouldn't have wanted them or gotten them any other way!

Thomasville, GA(Zone 8b)

hooray!!!!! the enablers won out!!!!!! :)

Fate, TX(Zone 8a)

if anyone has a chance to deal with willow creek gardens, kathleen is way cool and is always on top of all emails even thru thanksgiving. i think she answered in the same hr. that i emailed her. i already posted feedback re: our transaction thus far and will post again when i get the bulbs.

no it wasn't me. you can't blame me. it was nery that did it. she is the one that was egging you on. all i did was ask. doesn't hurt to ask. NERY WAS THE ONE!

Braselton, GA(Zone 7b)

LOL, I know it was NERY! LOL I am just a sucker for a pretty "face"....LOL

Northeast, LA(Zone 8a)

I got my order in from them last week, My bulbs were large and healthy. Some things ,watsonia in particular had started sprouting but seemed OK. I planted all of those bulbs and corms today, Can't wait to see them bloom. I am working on another order now. Yes she is very nice. I asked her about a particular bulb that she didn't carry, She emailed me several times, thanked me for putting her on to it. She contacted her wholesaler and will be offering it next fall season. If you get a hankering to order again and need a partner let me know. Great retailer to deal with.

Northeast, LA(Zone 8a)

Another thing. I think they may be affiliated with easy to grow.com because my free gift had that name on it instead of willowcreek. Not sure just think so.

Braselton, GA(Zone 7b)

Oh, I see how this is going..trying to STEAL my Bidding Partner...LOL That is great to know! I can't wait to get them and get them planted too! We will have to compare pictures in the Spring and Summer! You know I was just kidding, right! Barb, just say NO....LOL

Northeast, LA(Zone 8a)

No , don't want to steal just share. Maybe we could do a three-way share on some things we are not sure about but want to try since we are basically the same zone.

Fate, TX(Zone 8a)

me'nage a trois.......................................on daves? lol. i'm game. what bulb did you ask them about?

i think easy to grow and willow creek gardens are one in the same. i already mentioned that somewhere. their web sites are identical.....same products and same design..............exactly. the only difference is kathleen. when i was dealing with easy to grow earlier it was like pulling teeth getting that guy to email me back. but she seems to be always available. and our order was 97.00 and so i asked if i threw in another 3 bucks if she would send janet and i something else and she said she would. so we get 2 bonus bulbs. i even asked her not to send us tulips unless it was the species kind that might have a chance to naturalize here in the south. and i think she is going to try and send us something that we might actually could grow. plus she gave us a break on the shipping. i am very pleased thus far.

Northeast, LA(Zone 8a)

http://davesgarden.com/pf/go/447/index.html Aztec Lily,
My order was that much too. Sorry I didn't ask for a price break.

Fate, TX(Zone 8a)

well let's compare notes.................i felt shipping should be even cheaper............it's supposed to be "at cost" but i do doubt that she gave me that much of a break. . shipping is about 15.00 and then we still have to get it to janet. i just know if she would use one of those large flat rate boxes it could really be sent to us for 8.10. i even considered asking her to let me send her one of them but figured i had already topped out in the tackiness category. lol. i haven't seen the bulbs and don't know how big they are. but when they get to me you can bet your bippy i am going to check that out and next time i order from her i WILL tell her about that box.

Braselton, GA(Zone 7b)

FOMALOL, that is so funny BARB, your BIPPY....I love your SPUNK!!! You did a great job!!!!

River, did I send you any Sprecklia? I have that bulb, just couldn't remember if I had shared with you...send me a dmail..
Janet

Fate, TX(Zone 8a)

i love that bulb. i got 3 in trade just this year. and janet do you grow them outside where you are? cause daves plant files says hardy to zone 9. but i must have read somewhere else that they were more hardy than that cause i trade for only a few things that can't make it outside here. and let me know how many bulbs you ordered and what your shipping was. knowledge is POWER, right? lol.

Braselton, GA(Zone 7b)

I do grow them outside, I just dug and moved mine this year...they multiplied like crazy for me too! I have had mine in the ground for several years...I didn't order them this year...I must have about thirty all together now. Planted four or five a few years ago.

Thomasville, GA(Zone 8b)

You girls are such bad enablers.....I ended up ordering quite a few bulbs from willow creek gardens....I hope they are good.

We'll see!

Erin

Braselton, GA(Zone 7b)

LOL, boy are we addicts or what!

Fate, TX(Zone 8a)

well did you tell 'em that i sent ya? cause i told 'em i wuz talkin' them up on daves as i was tryin' to talk them into cutting me some slack on postage costs? it didn't work the second time janet. they wouldn't come off the 15 bucks. got the man this time. he did say he was going to send us some extra watsonia if i would email him when i paid him. won't forget to do that for sure. and they are affiliated with easy to grow. they have the same parent company. i told 'em to get some more lycoris as i wanted some of those next year. he said they were looking into it. got my telos bulb order............all small. seedpicker ordered the same time i did. hers were all small as well. we were slightly disappointed. bulbmeister order was great..........the bulbs were large and were either doubling or tripling. yoo-hoo. i got some bulbs from easy to grow in the spring. their bulbs were great. plenty big.

Braselton, GA(Zone 7b)

I'm going to have to take out a loan to get my Lilies and Glads..LOL Hope that they are as wonderful as I am picturing...I keep seeing the Watsonia, the Glads, all my new lilies, the new daylilies and iris I planted already and the alliums I still have to plant...growing together in PERFECT harmony...LOL I just need four more hands to get it all done!!! Some beautiful colors for sure!!

Fate, TX(Zone 8a)

i know janet. gardeners are really beautiful people. all we see is color and loveliness. and we are so optimistic.............of course they are going to grow, right? please post some pictures next year of what you get. if i learn how to i will do the same.

Braselton, GA(Zone 7b)

You can be CERTAIN of that, I can't wait! I love Glads, always have loved them...

Fate, TX(Zone 8a)

me too. my grandmother always had those and iris. and i guess those are my 2 favorite flowers. she never had much variety as folks back then couldn't buy much. all they could do was trade each other what they had. she sure would love to see what they have come up with in our day. i wish she could see our gardens next year. i am sure in her lifetime she never saw a garden like we are about to have. and i know your gardens are lovely right now. i am really just getting started and texas ain't cooperating one bit.

Braselton, GA(Zone 7b)

I have Crinum, Iris, and Amaryllis that were my Granny's. Roses, Forsythia, and Weigela that were my Mama's. I love having things that were in my family! Good night!

Fate, TX(Zone 8a)

that's what you get when you have ROOTS. i didn't care about some things until it was too late. good for you.

East Texas, United States(Zone 8a)

barb, now that the glad coop is red hot, I've decided I wouldn't mind a couple more var. of watsonia. always a day late and a $ short, lol. I'm looking at a couple of offers from this vendor on ebay.

Fate, TX(Zone 8a)

i would like to get all of the hardy glad varieties that they offer. they are not available i guess till next spring. and i prob. want all of their crocosmia varieties. if you want to split an order with me next spring let's do it? and if you want to split an order with me from that old house place bulbs i'm game for that too.

Fate, TX(Zone 8a)

janet, also just letting you know that i paid the bill just now. we have our order plus extras coming. don't know if they will get it in the mail today or mon. will keep you posted. the delay was the "extras". kathleen didn't let jon know that she had promised me an equal number of something for our 3 extra dollars. anyway finally got the 100.00 invoice just now.

Braselton, GA(Zone 7b)

Sounds great...Nery, I don't know how well the Watsonia multiply, but you are welcomed to some of mine when I can share...

Willis, TX(Zone 8b)

I'll be glad to split an order of mixed colors of Watsonia with someone...Janet ..they multiply quite quickly...2nd year for mine and I had double what I had the first year...I dug them up and moved them after they bloomed...was shocked at how many bulbs I had...Jeanne

Braselton, GA(Zone 7b)

Awesome....good to know!

Fate, TX(Zone 8a)

i think they multiply about as quick as glads, don't they? the bulbs are paid for and were being sent today, janet.

Fate, TX(Zone 8a)

for those of you who kept up with mine and janet's wild spree just wanted to let you know what willow creek gardens sent to us.

besides what we ordered they sent 4 packs of snow queen watsonia............we didn't order this one at all. so janet and i both get 2 packs.
they sent 2 packs of bedazzled...........we only ordered one. also they sent 2 packs of sparaxis...........we only ordered one. so lots of extras and all of the bulbs were really nice. they packed well. if you don't know this company go and look them up. ask for kathleen to help you. she is a wonderful communicator. barb

Braselton, GA(Zone 7b)

I AM SO EXCITED!!! MERRY CHRISTMAS TO US!!! LOL
