Hi,
Since you folks like bulbs so much I was wondering if you had any suggestions for purchasing inexpensive tulips, hyacinth or some other spring or fall bulbs for a sidewalk border. I have been looking around but some of the sites seem expensive like Brecks and I don't have any experience with any others. Maybe like a wholesale bulb place for regular people :*) Each side is 22' x 16" so I am trying to get maybe blooms over late April-May or June?
Unless there is a pygmy lily, short and blooms long?
Thank you,
Andrew
Off topic sort of> Tulips and such...
There are two places that I have had good luck getting bulbs from in mass quantity
http://www.vanengelen.com/
or in less quantity
http://www.johnscheepers.com
They typically have a sale sometime around now, but it's not up yet, but also the selection could be a bit picked over now. The bulbs have been of good quality for the price you pay. Have ordered a from them a few different times.
Just a thought.
There are many nice dwarf lilies out there with heights ranging from 12 inches to 20 inches you should find something that will follow those tulips and such.
Dwarf lilies , hmmmm
now of any suppliers? I looked at a few of the frequented sites and didn't really find any info.
Thank you!
Touch of Nature has some pretty good prices right now.
I have gotten most of my selection here and there. Some from B&B, Hallsons, and also from Canadian growers. Most of the 'Pixies' are dwarf, but don't trust those that are 'Elfs'!!!!!!
I think I have about 15 cultivars of dwarf lilies right now and I am always ready to increase my inventory :-)
I don't know if anyone is shipping this late, but a check of your favorite sites for lilies may reveal some shorties for you. Here is one that has several Hallson Gardens

llilyfan, don't you have enough to bury right now??? Do you have any dwarf lilies to sell? I'm looking.
Hi,
I e-mailed Buggycrazy,TheLilyGarden, and Plantlilies about short lilies 24" and under. To my surprise they all e-mailed within a couple hours :*) Anyway, on with my point. Buggy only grows a handful and is sold out, TheLilyGarden doesn't grow them anymore, as Judith put it "Once we called them short or dwarf they wouldn't sell". However Plantlilies said they grow "a number of shorter lilies that are 12" to 24" at maturity". She is going to e-mail me the brand new paper catalog in pdf format :*) So I am hopeful that I will find yet another venue for lilies in my yard!
