Yes and I have you to thank for that LOL, I just gave up, im not going any higher and there's no point in me jacking up the price for someone else. This one didn't have as much color as the first one. Ill try to find it again in the Spring for my new garden.
Flowering Anthuriums
I was watching. My friend was bidding again and lost again. I just got three today from Hawaii and have one more coming from there. These three are beautiful plants. Nice size and reasonable price. I got them from Linda's Place Hawaii (in case you get "the urge").
If you happen to see another big white one (Acropolis), I know someone who would LOVE to have one. Either he or I would be glad to send you the cost plus shipping. He also likes to trade and if you had one to swap, I'm sure he would trade you for it. He's got a nice collection and he and I do a swap in the spring. If you're interested, let me know. He lives in Oklahoma.
I love that Midori and acropolis....I have some amicolas, not sure the names will get some pics taken. :-) these would look great in My Hawaiian garden next summer. About the only plant selection missing.
:-)
I'll keep an eye out for the acropolis here in the Keys.
Thanks celt!
Eclipse, do show us your flowers! I love looking at what everyone else has and a Hawaii garden sounds pretty. Actually, that's a really good idea. Did you do it this past summer?
I don't have any of those (yet). Guess I'd better check out a few places this week end.
I'm keeping my eye out for the Acropolis. It's really very pretty. If anyone sees one online, please let me know.:)
I have only 2- a Pink noid, 2 years I've had it and it has never reflowered and a 'Miami Beauty' t hat I bought this spring. No flowers yet.:( I happen to have a pic of the MB when I first got it. Love the blood red color.
NN- I really love looking at all your ant. pics. You've quite the beauteous collection!
Next summer will be my Hawaiian garden, I'm putting in a new PVC fence, large lava rock boulders the works. even building a tiki bar. I already have most of the varieties of plants I need, ti's,palms, banananas, vanda orchids, staghorn ferns etc. should look nice when I get it done.
GH, I love your Miami Beauty. I have a "noid" red one that looks like that. Maybe that's what it is. I got my Acropolis on ebay from a seller in Florida. I'm looking for one for my swap buddy so if I find two, I'll let you know.
Thanks for the compliments. I think they're beauteous too though I can't tell you why. I don't put a lot of work into them other than moving them to work every year. I want a greenhouse sooooo bad. This weekend I've got to repot these last four. They come from HI potted in lava rock but I don't have much luck keeping them in that. I repot them all in a mix of 1 part orchid bark to 2 parts Miracle Grow. Then I leave them alone. Just water and watch 'em do their thing.
Eclipse, I think that is just the neatest idea. Especially the tikki bar! Where do you overwinter your plants? I guess the bananas can be dug and stored up there. Are you one of the lucky ones to have a greenhouse?
I want to see pics of all the steps, Eclipse. This sounds like a fun project. For sure it will be very rewarding. I second the idea about the Tikki bar- WOW!
NN- does your MG already have ferts in it? I do appreciate you keeping your eyes out for Acropolis for me.:)))))
GH
Yes, the MG has a fertilizer in it and the orchid bark is Schultz. It says "Exotic Potting Medium" on the front of the bag and also says something about an added mineral. I don't know if the combination just happens to be a winner. I talked to a grower in Hawaii who thinks it may be just that. Maybe the decaying orchid bark feeds the plant? Whatever it is, I pot them up and then don't do anything else but water. I've got plants that have been potted like that for two years, never fed and have always bloomed their heads off.
