Nov. 4th, 2006 College Station roundup pictures!

The roundup was really fun! I enjoyed myself tremendously and had a great time talking to the members (and spouses) who came!

The camera around my neck is just for show. I was too busy talking and listening to take pictures but I do have a picture of the tree the frostwood says is the Hercules Club tree (only of course she knew the Latin name),

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

Well, where is that picture, Please?

Katy, TX(Zone 8b)

This is the picture of what frostweed says is a dead tree, the Hercules Club tree, with the strange bark. It has a top but I just took a picture of the trunk so that you could see the bark.

I took several photos and then got so busy visiting that completely forgot to take any more. I've labeled the photos as to who was in them. There was only one lady that I didn't remember her name. She was wearing a blue sweatshirt and sitting on the left side of the pavillion. I went completely through the original Round Up Thread and no name just jumped out and said, "I'm the lady in blue!" I will post her photo when I find out who she is. :-)

Everyone brought a lot of plants and I came home with some very different plants than I went with. I've spent the whole morning potting and planting. Two of my favorite things to do! Thanks for your generosity everyone!

Janet

Trois gave us waltzing lady hibiscus and seeds for Pride of Barbados.

Nancy gave me a beautiful Dr. Seuss Brug and several other plants for my butterfly garden.

Blue Eyes - Kim gave us several varieties of Passion Vines that I didn't have and a Cardomom Ginger. Also an Orange Cosmos for the BF Garden.

Smockette and Smock provided us with some beautiful white Ruella and several other goodies.

Kipper gave us September Rose Hibiscus Seeds, Texas Star Seeds and several poles of bamboo which I dearly love to use for supporting the big guys.

The lady in Blue is the one I can't remember her name for the life of me. Please, someone help me out here.

Edited to add... Trois was kind enough to provide her name. Cactus Kay. Thanks Trois. And my apologies to Cactus Kay for my CRS. I was amazed that I remembered as many as I did. :-)

Green Bud and Trish Ann were constantly on the move and I didn't get a good photo of either of them.

I will enjoy the butterfly stepping stone that Trish Ann made for a very long time. It's absolutely beautiful!

Green Bud was a delight to visit with. I'm sure that I scarfed something from her plants but at this moment in time, whatever it was, it's vague in the memory.

Chris and Dave are both treasures, to be sure. But both of them were hard to capture on the camera also because they were moving around.

Dave provided me with a vitex and a pink hydrangeia that will provide many blooms for my BF Garden. I almost made the mistake of planting them in the pond for my BF Garden this morning and then remembered Dave saying how big the Vitex got! WHEW!!! It will find a new home where it has plenty of space to grow up.

Amelia is such a sweetheart. I do believe though that she was feeling the cool autumn wind a bit more than some of us were.

My Hubby Rick drove me there and home. He had originally planned on going hunting yesterday. Friday evening, he asked me if I'd mind if he came with me, instead. He's been hearing about Dave's Garden for the past 6 months. I told him how much I was looking forward to meeting the folks that I'd been visiting with. He really had a good time. Everyone made him feel very welcomed. I do believe he now understands why he finds me, so often, here in front of the computer chatting with you folks.

No matter how many times he says that we just have too many plants.... he's always willing to haul new ones to the back yard for me, or dig a hole to put something I "just had to have". He was (secretly) delighted with all of the new plants that we brought home. I know he'd never admit it, but I did see him admiring several of the succulents that he saw there. While I was busy visiting with others, he was wandering around picking up this and that. So some things, I'm not really certain of their origins. If he picked up your plants, we both thank you! We will take good care of them.

There were some plants that were "unclaimed" at the end of the visiting. Rather than toss them out, as some might have planned, Nancy and Kipper started everyone planting them around the area surrounding the pavillion. Once that ball got to rolling, I believe just about all of us took "something" out there to beautify the park.

Good philosophy! If you're not going to use a cutting, plant it where others can enjoy it. Waste not, want not.

I thoroughly enjoyed visiting with Barbaba (Trois' wife) and Frank (Josephine's hubby) though they escaped my camera.

There were a few ladies that showed up just as things were winding down. I cannot remember their names, but really enjoyed chatting with them and really appreciate the 4 o'clocks, which I'd just not long before mentioned to Dave that I couldn't find anywhere.

God truly does put folks and things in our paths when we ask for them or need them. HE graced us with perfect weather and a truly delightful day.

Thanks Dave for hosting the get together and for providing us with this site. I really appreciate all that you and your staff do to keep this such a great place to "hang my hat", any time of the day.

Her name is Kay. Cactus Kay.

Thanks Trois. I should have remembered that since that's my middle name.

And this is Cactus Kay.

Trois Dear,

You managed to capture some interesting poses of mine. I don't believe I was making a face, intentionally! HAHAHAHA

I'm glad you got so many good photos. Thanks for sharing them.

Your camera doomawhichy is something else. Brilliant!

The "ladies" look great this morning. I planted them and will share them with Connie. We both love hibiscus plants.

I forgot to bring my camera, which I realized about 20 miles away from my house. I had already turned around to get my sunglasses, but I was too far to go back for the camera.

However, I am posting this picture of my pale pink Angel Trumpet (brugmansia) since many of you received cuttings from it yesterday. I took this picture this morning.

UniqueTreasures, that is some action shot of me, TrishAnn, Dave and Chris! LOL!
