flowering peach tree

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

a friend of mine has a peach tree that has memories that are important to her and it got damaged by a snow storm last year... she says there are still a few branches from the main trunk that made it through... is there a way to propagate a new one off the old damaged one?

Try googling "air layering". You'll find a host of information on it. It is usually done in Spring, but can be done at other times of the year, also...

yes the ones you clip over with moss.... going to try that in spring

I've purchased those and they work so-so. For me, I've had much better luck with old-fashioned saran wrap, moss, and foil.

The rooter pots seem to only work if the diameter of the branch is exactly the same as the rooter pot, and if the branch is completely vertical. Those are two really big IFs!

Air layering can take a while and the rooter pots seemed to dry out. The ones I used saran on never dried out, even after being on, for months.

I'm not trying to make you feel "buyers remorse" over the rooter pots, I just know this is important to you, and so I'm suggesting the way I've found worked better for me...old fashioned saran and moss twist-tied to the branch...
