What is the proper way to save these seed pods? Do I remove them from the bush while they are still green, or do I wait til they have turned brown?
Mexican Bird of Paradise or Poinciana
I wait until they turn brown and are a little dry. If kept in a dry cool place they will stay viable through the winter. Then when the weather starts to warm soak them in some warm water overnight and then plant. They come up faster with a little bottom heat.

What Iroot said. They are very reliable from seed and the seed germinates readily!

Do you remove the seeds from the pod?
Yes, remove them from their pods. If the seeds are good and plump you will probably get close to 100% germination. I have noticed that the warmer it is the quicker they come up. I have planted them before (without bottom heat) but they just sat there until the temps got close to 80 on an regular basis.

Thanks!
