This is my new Dogo puppy on his first day in his new home. He was born and raised (to this stage) in a relatively small "brood pen" in a kennel and had never been out on the grass to run and stretch out his *wings* yet. The breeder keeps all newborns on concrete for several reasons. Mainly to control diseases (like Parvo) and keep everything sterile. So needless to say he was have'n a ball running around in my back yard when I got him home. :)
He was 7 weeks old as of Friday (10/27/06) when I picked him up from my friend's house. This little guy is a Grandson to my old Romeo dog - my best friend and companion of almost 12 years that passed on to the happy hunting grounds in the sky earlier this year. I haven't named him just yet because I wanted to wait until I get to know him and his personality a bit more first.
He's a Dogo Argentino and will grow up to be around 120 lbs and around 26" tall (at the shoulder). For those that don't know what a "Dogo" is . . . and may be curious. The Dogo Argentino is a *Big Game Hound* - a breed that originated in South America in the 1920s and are still considered a "rare breed" here in the states.
