Propogating this shrub for neighbor..need help....

hi guys,
Bear with me please, Im very much a newbie to all of this. Here's the scoop. I have a shrub, which I believe is some sort of Dogwood. My neighbor complimented me on it the other day and said she would love to have one in her yard. Well she just moved in and dosnt have much..so I would like to root some cuttings for her. I just am not sure how to...I cut 7 or 8 ends off (about 4 inches or so) and took the bottom leaves off and stuck them in a water/hormone rooting powder solution. Is there a better way? Any suggestions would be very helpfull here...Thanks :)

Hi I just dip the cut off end in rooting hormone powder.then
place cuttings in a mixture of damp sand and peat.I use a
propagation house with amist system, but you can place a few
cuttings in a pot and place a plastic tent over pot to keep
moisture in.keep out of direct sun and don't let them dry out.Should root in 6 weeks. Hope this helps.

Hello All,

I want to plant a hedge fence using the native shrubs on my land (elderberry, juneberry, etc.) This info is great. If anyone is watching this thread, can you tell me if it matters when the starter branches are cut from the original plant. I will root them inside in the same conditions that I start my seedlings. But will it work if I take cuttings during winter time?

Thanks,

I've literally stuck winter-pruned shoots of elderberry, thrust them 8" deep into the soil, and they've sprouted leaves and grown in the spring. Juneberries, I don't know about.
