First bloom inside!

scio, oregon, OR(Zone 8a)

Here is my first bloom from an inside plant! Just a common morning glory but being able to grow them inside is a revelation to me, and I was so happy to wake up this morning and have a cup of coffee with this bloom on my table to brighten my day!

are you using special lighting and heat? I am in Maine and don't know if they will thrive inside, is very chilly here; must be there too? ~ Sherry

Is there such a thing as "just a common morning glory"!!!? They are all special, aren't they! What a great treat! Congrats... - Arlan

I agree. All morning glories have value, virtues and potential just like people. :)

I have it under a desk lamp called a "Sun Light Lamp" by Lights of America. I picked it up at Bi-Mart for under $20. It is a full spectrum light. This one bloomed at home where I keep the house rather chilly. It is probably 60's overnight.

HI Just beatiful !!! What is the name of it ? Did you say you grew it inside... wow Ruth

(Zone 7a)

ditto to all of above and lucky us, too - it gives me hope that our non-seed-bearing I. "Dbl Blackie" which is sending out fresh new vines and leaves in its jar of water (with a tad of hydrogen peroxide - seems to work against pathogens) will progress to the rooting stage indoors.

Congratulations! It looks like a very happy vine, lush with leaves and now flowers!

What is the JMG you have growing in the blue pot in the foreground?

I have never planted morning glories because they can become so invasive here... Now I kow that I can plant them in a pot and put them in my atrium!!! Great... I am going to run across the alley and steal some seeds off the huge ones growing on their fence.

It is very funny, but I don't know what the JMG seed growing in the side pot is. I am still experimenting with my inside growing techniques so I planted an "unknown" just to see how it does. It will be a surpise when it blooms!

Here are blooms inside the front window on this frosty morning!

Beth, Very pretty. Sneak outside and snap us a front view. LOL
Is this your unknown?

Jackie

scio, oregon, OR(Zone 8a)

No, this is my I. purpurea, just a common mg. The unknown is getting ready to bloom though...I can't wait!!!

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Great, we will be waiting right along with you.

Baolvera, that is such an uncommon picture (your post of 12/4/06 11:54am) that it feels like the morning sun is warming my hide 3 hours after sundown this close to solstice - atenkley and others were right - there is no such thing as an "uncommon" MG. Can you take more early morning shots like that?

Have a HPS light in the house is like having golden sunshine all winter. My husband says it helps him with the winter blahs. The dogs even enjoy basking under it. See my new thread "mystery solved" for more photos.
