Something finally bloomed!

Dallas, TX(Zone 8a)

I can hardly believe that one of my AVs finally bloomed. I have a lot of pretty plants but since I moved them to the greenhouse they have not bloomed, until today. I do not know the name of this one but it is still pretty. The first photo is of the whole plant.

Here is a photo of the flower that I took from a very long distance using my digital zoom.

Beautiful sparkly flower Jesse ! Anytime you have an environment change it can take a good 4-6 weeks for plants to adjust. Are your plants getting as much light ? This is one of the number one reason a plant is not blooming.

very pretty Jesse!

Jesse. The plant is beautiful and your pictures are so clear. I think we might need a new camera or I need to lear how to use this old one.

Those are beautiful. The close up looks so good I want to take a little bite out of it :-) It looks scrumptious. Cool photo.

Gorgeous!!

I've found that the "auto focus" on my camera often chooses to focus on a leaf rather than on the bloom I'm trying to photograph. When you use the macro setting for closeups, your depth of field is smaller, so parts of the photo are more likely to be out of focus (which is fine and even desirable as long as your subject is in focus). I haven't been using the macro mode so much anymore to take closeups... instead, I take a photo from further away and then crop it in my photo editor to get the close-up shot that I want. Since my camera has reasonably good resolution (5 megapix), this works just fine for me, even if it's not very professional LOL.

That neat, flat rosette of leaves reminds me of the way my Anthoflores noid (purple with white thumbprint) has been growing under the lights... Here it is in bloom.... I think they look like sisters! ;-)

Hi Critter,

That is a pretty noid! I have a Nikon Coolpix 7900 which is 7.1 megapixels and I have a macro on mine but golly gee I can't take as nice as pictures as Jesse's.

I should read the manual maybe it is just me....LOL!!!!

Who me, couldn't be...then who stole the cookie from the cookie jar!!! Boy does that one bring back memories!

Here is an updated photo of the violet that I posted in the beginning of this thread. It really has bloomed a lot since then.
