Viburnum - (Arrowwood) - cross pollination?

Rowlett, TX(Zone 8a)

Can anyone tell me what would be a good cross-pollinator for Arrowwood Viburnum (V. dentatum). I live in northeast Texas.

Many thanks,
Carla

Carla:

You'd sure want another arrowwood viburnum! If you have native arrowwoods around, then they are probably adequate for the job. If you have planted purchased shrubs (named varieties/clones) then you may be better off with other named varieties that have overlapping bloom times. See exceedingly long post on the subject:

This may be more than you wanted; if not, do a search of the Trees & Shrubs forum using Viburnum Pollination as keywords. This will turn up volumes on the subject, and hours of reading pleasure. Have a coffee pot nearby.

Thanks, VV. I did a search of Arrowwood on Friday and read all of those postings. I think I would do better in your area of the country, as far as finding more Arrowwood. Or Rusty Blackhaw, for that matter. Seems the nurseries in this area, and I've called or visited just about everyone, *all* buy their viburnums from the SAME wholesaler. And they're all grown from cuttings. So I've got a RBH and my friend has an Arrowwood, and we haven't had any luck finding their cross pollinators. There are SOOOOO many different varieties of Viburnum, but our area nurseries (which are populated by people with an appalling lack of knowledge about Viburnum pollination requirements) don't stock the ones we want/need/are obsessed about. But I will not give up hope, my search will continue.
