Have all Pernettya species been moved to Gaultheria?
Pernettya = Gaultheria
Yes

Wow, growin, that's beautiful!
Mike
Thanks treelover3. An underutilized shrub that deserves a bit more attention.
Word of caution - Gaultheria mucronata (syn. Pernettya mucronata) is invasive in the UK climate on acidic sandy soils; I'd not be surprised if it is for you too
Resin
I can imagine it could become invasive in ideal conditions but our brief summer sunny/dry weather seems to keep it in check. The same goes for Ugni molinae which apparently has escaped cultivation in Ireland but seems to stay incheck here. Resin, although our climates are mostly identical we have the difference of atleast a month of sunny/dry California-like weather and the rare time where frigid air flows from the east/north which fries tender plants including native plants. I can see these plants becoming a problem where they are directly facing the Pacific on the coast. Still, Gaultheria mucronata has its place in the landscape.
Gaultheria is now official but nurseries are still selling Pernettya and hybrids as Gaulnettya.
Larry
Thanks everyone. Appreciated. :-)
growin, that is GORGEOUS!!
I love it love it!
Can a Gaulthera like that be propagated from a cutting?
Yes, they sure can.
