Possible new GH for me

Huntington Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

Hey, what do you have going in that creative mind of yours? It's hard to take a pic like you mentioned, as there is a block fence just to the right of that grassy area and I can't stand that far back. I am standing against the wall in the 3rd pic. Do you want that same one, only higher? That stucco wall is plain and goes up to the 2nd story. There are no windows above it.

I'm still searching for easy plans to make one, but haven't found any with real step by step directions. I did find this site, this week, and it's a perfect shape for my area. It still doesn't give real directions that I can follow easily.

All my family has been asking me what I want for Christmas, and I keep telling them....I only want a GH!! They just don't get it. lol

I was playing with your house pic today and greenhouse shapes. When I save the pic, it keep showing with a grid on it. I did effectively paint all your plants out of the picture and played with the shape of the greenhouse but need a few details. How much space is between the fireplace and window and how high is the window? How much space from the walk to the wall?

I might have an idea or two and even come up with instructions/directions if I can have those measurements.

Now, get a ladder, climb up and sit on the block wall and get me a good picture. LOL Maybe if you sit on the ground, dead in front of the area, you can get a bit higher up??? Pushy, huh?!?!

I'm ripping out carpet while I sit and wait on you. hahahahahaha

Oh, you can email it to my real email. ;)

Merry Christmas to me!!! yippee!!

I just ordered my GH from Gardeners supply. It is this one http://www.gardeners.com/Fast-Start-Greenhouse/default/33-240.prd

Over the weekend my DH and I were talking about Christmas gifts for the whole family. He finally said to me "do you really want that GH"? It's the only thing I talk about and really the only thing that I really want right now....so he told me to order it today.

I have spent so much time on the web looking up GH's to find the size I needed and a price to fit my budget and this one will be perfect for my first GH ever. I also like the Sunshine "Mt. Hood" that I posted above, but that is too expensive at this time for me. I did find one other one that was reasonably priced and the right size, but it didn't have any vents. I emailed them to ask this question "how to you vent this GH". They replied and said the manufacturer recommends that you just open the door!!!!!! Can you believe that? lol

I will not receive the GH until January, but that's fine with me, as the holidays will be keeping me pretty busy. Then I will have to prepare the area to set it on and make sure it is level. It will probably get here before I'm ready for it. lol

Thank you all for your help. :-))

Thanks guys...lol

Hmmmm.... what am I getting hubby? Don't have ANY idea this year. Last year I surprised him "big time". I bought him a golf club (driver) that he had been talking about for months. He never pays big money for anything good for himself, usually a used one or a traded one. I decided that it was about time that he got a good 'driver', as this was his hobby and loves it as much as I love my gardening. He brought this up while we were talking this weekend, that's one reason I agreed with him about him buying me the GH.

Got any ideas for hubby? He's not into tools or electronic gadjets. My DD is getting him a gift certificate for new golf shoes.

Off to find something today....I hope. :-))

ROFL at Strever giving Donna's hubby Donna for Christmas. :-)

That's not a bad idea....let him open a sexy negligee....

Mine is a gadget guy, so he's easy. This year he got one of those rolling tool towers. But I may also get him an xbox 360 - he loves the previous version so much. Last year it was a flat screen tv.

I love your greenhouse. Do post pics when you get it all set up. I am living vicariously thru y'all that are lucky enuf to get what I want most.

I'm so happy to hear that you will be getting a GH Donna! Yay!!! I know you are excited!

I did that to my upper windows in the dining room Strever, because I have a horrible view on a two story next door of the neighbors porch (and I knew they could see me eating dinner!) out my windows.

Donna, am so glad you are getting a greenhouse finally. Yes, you must post pictures as or when you set it up. We all like to see it and drool........................
As for Christmas present for hubby, hum, how about gift cert. for eating out? Or maybe some other golf item like to a golf course he hasn't gone to yet?

MM, very neat stainglass window!

It's not real, but it is convincing. It's a vinyl static cling film. Very easy to do. Comes in several designs. I got it at the hardware store. For the bottom, I cut it apart what was leftover to make the design on the lower one coordinate.

LOL I have seen those types in the store. Still looks good.

Guess what? Just got a call from the UPS man to arrange for delivery tomorrow!! They will be delivering it between 10am and 2pm and I will need to have 2 people here to accept it to take it off the truck. There are 3 bundles with a toal weight of 215 pounds.

I haven't had the time to work on the GH area much since the holidays kept me pretty busy. I'm not going to rush putting it up right away, but will read up on all the directions and I have to build the small base also. I read on the order site, that they give you instructions on how to build the base. Shouldn't be too hard, as this GH is only 4'x6'.

I'll keep you all posted when I start the building process....wish me luck. lol

Donna

ps, I still can't believe that I am going to have a real GH!! lol

It has arrived...yippee. It is laying flat on the garage floor for now. I am in the midst of taking down all my Christmas decorations and puting them up on the rafters today, so I can't even take the time to open one box yet. I did take a picture of it and when I am ready to put it up, I will start a new thread and show you all my progress.
Did I mention that I am so excited??? lol

Carol, have you made a decision on which GH you are going to get yet? Are you going to get it for Spring seed starting?

Donna

Albany, OR(Zone 8a)

Well, I hope you are excited! It will be fun for you to start growing all your own plants!
As for my greenhouse, yes, I have more or less decided. Just need to start emailing the place to put the order in. Just is hard to shell over that much money..........................plus I don't have the site prepped yet so...................
As for spring planting. I have already done some winter sowing a couple weekends ago. Put them in my crappy plastic greenhouse but is better than nothing right now.

But you, now are ready to go...................................can't wait to see it!
