Lily Lavender Mountain

The directions say plant theee bulbs 2-3" deep and 2-3" apart.... but I'd like to overwinter in pots, not forcing just over wintering -- I ordered about 400 and forgot until they showed up, and I don't have a bed ready... by a long stretch. So...

CAN they be overwintered in pots in a protected location?

How MANY can I put in a 6" wide gallon pot? In other words, can I crowd them a bit?

I was a little perplexed until I realized these are not true lilies, but Ixiolirion. Out my league here. But I would expect liked most things planted in pots, even to grow on in, cramming is a good thing.

You think you were perplexed, I opened the box and thought... Huh, what the devil are these little bulbs for? I ordered LILLIES...... well, yeah, sortuv. Thanks for the reply, will do some cramming.

OMG, you must have thought you were getting the deal of the century! Until . . . .

I figured they would be SMALL for the price, and I don't mind growing things on in pots before planting -- figure that's the price you pay. But I looked at these and just started laughing. They may be lillies on MARS, but here, they are bulbs.... Oh, well, they will be pretty, and blue, and perennial. I'll chalk it up to a happy coincidence and keep smiling.
