New Babies at WigglyPaw Farm

Hastings, MI(Zone 5b)

Duh!
Mrs. Bocker had a bunch of babies and we didn't even know the dear
was pregnant. She is the BEST mommy chicken ever. I can see that
stressed out look in her eyes and she is quite distracted. The babies
are getting bigger now, but I have to laugh, they are still nesting
underneath her, and they pile under and then she is lifted up in the
air teeter tottering on top of them.

She teaches them to scratch. To be on the lookout for hawks. Planes.
Respect Mr. Bocker. Come when clucked to. Go to Mommy when the
other chickens are bullys.

My sweet Mrs. Bocker is looking thin and raggedy from the stressors
of motherhood. Is this what happened to me? Sheesh!!! Except, I
got big and fat and raggedy. LOLOL.
Her feathers fell out, and my hair got thin. I got mentally crazed, and
I am sure others noticed it, so did she. I couldn't hold a conversation
with anyone, as my mind was always on the children, and so is hers!

I love the "cluck cluck cluck" noise she makes. Nature is so
amazing.

Very sweet. I do love a mama hen with her chicks.

There's a beautiful children's story about Easter called Petook that has the loveliest description of a hen with chicks; I always think of it when I see a chicken family like yours above. :)

They're adorable and the babies ARE getting big....no wonder she's confused when they start to get under her to nest! HAHAHAHA I can only imagine that picture! And yes, your description of her does sound a lot like my motherhood....with the exception that mine "chicks" didn't try to nest under me....thank goodness! :-)

Teen chickens are so cute! They are sort of brave at that age. Their mom might let you pet them, without calling them back.
