I store my brugs in a heated shop for the winter, today it's 68, tomorrow 35. Time to put the brugs to sleep for the winter. I will defoliate at the shop and then spray for bugs. I went real slow and didn't even tip one over. It's my brug mobile! You should have seen the stares, two people opened thier windows and asked what they were, of course we were all laughing.
you should have seen the stares I got!
I love this picture!! Do you know the name of her?
Bonnie
No wonder people started!! That's an awesome display!!
Don't you feel cheated that we're getting this cold snap now? Of course, it'll warm back up in a few days.
Wow, Dan, what a gorgeous sight that is! Is one of those where my Dr. came from? Neat!!
Barb
Hi Bonniie! yep, these are unknown yellows, they are a carbon copy of Dr. Suess, which was the next load to the shop. They are so close that only if you have them side by side can you tell the difference. Just a little lighter in color.
Hi indiana_lily!, when I walked into the shop this morning you wouldn't belive the fragrance, wow! almost overwhelming, but never too much, I love the smell of brugs. Now to plan for next year!
Hi Barb! Dr. Suess is the best smelling brug I have, and yes I have the mother to your cutting, she's doing well in her new home for the winter. Good to hear from you!

Such a beautuful sight. Don't you feel sad that this is the end of our growing season? I have all mine dug, just have to carry them inside. We will then have a couple weeks of warm weather.
I am NOT carrying them all outside again. I am happy with what we can get.
Dan,
I believe we need to get to know each other better, Ya know - like relatives. I'd love to have a daughter of your yellow if you have any to share. I am just starting and have had one of my 3 brugs to bloom before the weather turned cool. I have nothing to trade but I will send postage or whatever you would like, (oops, maybe I had better take that last offer back). If not, just post more pictures so I can enjoy - that is quite a site in the back of the brugmobile.
Marie
Hi Dan, Great picture. No wonder everyone was staring!~ It is a job on moving day is it not. I still have about 30-35 out. Some in pots & some in the ground, a lot with buds. I have 2 that have out grown the GH & I'm wondering if I should cut them off or try to find a home for the total 12ft.?
Sad to see the nice weather heading out. It's been down to 36 here but everybody is doing fine so far. I have a few things I need to do to the GH before "moving day" I keep crossing my fingers that it stays warm for another week or so. Bj
Great picture! Thanks for sharing.
Loretta
Too funny! I'd love to see a site like that.
That is breathtakingly gorgeous!!..I would stop dead in my tracks and oooo and awwww....as well....Jeanne
Well, of course people stared!! Your brugs are beautiful :-) Thanks for sharing your picture.
What a great picture. I would have loved to see people's jaws dropping. :>)
That could be a float in the Rose Bowl parade! How beautiful! I just finished bringing all mine in and I must remember to not get more next year! They have spent two nights in the garage but I decided to not take a chance tonight. We have had snow flurries off and on all day. I hate this! :(
LOL I knew everyone would get a kick, so I had to take pictures, I just wish I would have taken the camera with me in the truck to get some shots of people looking at me. Still laughing!
Americanwoman your right! if ever I'm in the rose bowl parade you know what to look for. The little guy behind the wheel with the face as red as his truck laughing his head off! LOL! You know you will have more brugs next year. Want some cuttings?
Dan! That is GREAT! thanks for posting the pics. Diamond(s) Electric Brug Parade!
Well Diamond I do have an air pump and an air stone. :)
You need to take that on the road and charge admission for an upclose look.
Those are wonderful photos, I wish I had your truck and brug, would likely have made the papers in my area. I surely hope you made DG photo of the day, it's super!!!
Thanks Sherry! how nice of you to say! our paper the "Toledo Blade" would have most likely taken a picture of me and my truck, but I didn't call them, alway's an after thought you know. I have been in our paper a couple of times (for good stuff) and it is kind of a family joke when I'm going to be in again.
More Golden Lady
WOW, Dan, that is one happy lady! Beautiful!!!
Barb
Well, aren't you a sweetie, Dan!! Tanks! I have a friend in Ohio that's just purchased an electrical repair business, but I'm not certain of the name of the area where she lives. I have lotz of Ohio doggie (Golden Retriever) pals, your state really grows nice people, as well as Goldens!!
Hi Barb, nice to hear from you, I read you are doing the bubbler way this winter! I did it last year and it was the way to go, saves space, they grow roots like crazy and some even flowered! If you loose any over the winter just let me know in the spring and I'll be there to help with some cuttings.
I didn't get to a couple of my brugs today and the temps are going down pretty low tonight, I hope I don't loose any of them, a little leaf damage would be ok, I'll be taking them off anyway. last year I purposly left out a 6' Adora outside to see how it would react to the temps, and you know it really didn't show a lot of damage until it was in the elements for some time. So I think I'll be ok.
Still no blooms on my Herrenhauser Garten this year (2nd year) I'll give it one more year and see what happens. It did grow alot and sent alot of side shoots, so it's getting pretty big. If no blooms next year I will offer it or just dump it.
Last year I was putting my different cuttings together in the same buckets, this year they are going to get thier own buckets. I don't want to cause any problems with cross contamination if they have any diseases, especailly if I am going to share my cuttings. A good habit to start I guess (being a responsible gardener I mean)
Picture is Dr. Suess
Dan
Hi Sherry, that is so strange you say that about Golden Retrievers, my sister has two, "Dakota" and "Ginger" what wonderful pets they are too! we also have a couple of Labs in the family they are great too!
I hope your friend who just started the business does real well, It is real hard to start any business these day's, it takes a lot of hard work and sacrifice, I know, I ate spagettio's and Mac cheese for a long time, and still do on occasion.

Nice! His offspring looks just like him! ;) It's such a bright, cheerful plant. It lights up the area where it grows, doesn't it.
You are much braver than I for trying to succeed with HG. After checking it out in several places I didn't even want to try it. I admit that the blooms are the goal for me and HG is so reluctant to bloom even in perfect conditions that I'd be doomed before I even began. Good luck with yours. Maybe this next year will be the one!
I've decided the same thing regarding keeping the cuttings separated also. I have been saving my Folgers coffee cannisters from the office and will use them for bubblers and then Kell's Cups with orchid moss once they put out enough roots.
Cool beautiful picture ! Just drive your truck right to Florida WOW would we love having your plant n our yard !
Yes Diamond you are a terrible tease. Now you need to tell me exactly how I do the bubbler. Do you stand them up in a bucket of water and just keep the water clean and the airstone going? I would love to try this.
That is a GREAT pic, thanks for sharing it !!!
~Julie =0)
LMBO That is tooo funny.. Now I'm really regretting that I didn't get a picture of Donna (PudgyMudPies) when she had brugs sticking out of every window of her car creeping along.. I tried to get a pic with my phone, but it was too dangerous. (I had a load of brugs in my car too) LOL I love this thread.. Thank you so much for thinking of us! What a beautiful haul..
bubble, bubble, bubble, Saandy I have some cuttings! It's too easy not to grow more! Tease, Tease,
Your right on the money! put them in a bucket of clean water in a cool place, turn on the air, then look out the window and try to figure out where to put them! That's what I do. Then next Spring when you have nice weather pot them up or just plant them in the ground, your choice.
LMK
Dan
My nephew, cute aint he!
diamond123 you nephew is one handsome guy! ;) Would it be possible to work out something for a few cuttings? I would be happy to have some and pay whatever they would cost to mail. I'll come back later to check.
Hi Dan if I'd seen this I would have followed you home!! Where were you moving these?
You must have a roomy spot to store them.
I live real close to you, do you have room for any more?
This cold spell caught me with whole plants that I didn't get in.
We need to know each other!!
Bonnie
Hi Bonnie, I'm getting pretty full, that's why I use the bubbler's, takes very little room and you can have double the plants. I would love to meet you! you are real close, today is Saturday and I am still doing tropical clean up around the yard. I don't know how many plants you have but I could house a few for you. LMK if you want to hook up today and store a few. My address is in the exchange
Dan
Dan, I keep looking for the marching band!! LOL!!
Hi Melanie! I guess I march to my own drummer! LOL! but I won't let that rain on my parade, can you think of any more?
Dan
Hi Sandy! you bet! I will d-mail when ready.
Dan
OK Dan I'll wait to hear from you, thanks!
Sandy
