When I first heard of a dwarf river birch, I thought, "That might be kind of cool." Today I found one and took a picture. My first gut impression, "This might be an acquired taste."

Betula nigra "Little King"
Ah how cute. How tall is it?
Tammy, I think about eight feet, maybe ten.

I was not a early adopter of this dwarf/compact B. nigra thing but it is growing on me. Tecumseh Compact can get fairly large and makes a nice small tree. Fox Valley has really nice bark for the small package that it is. It pictured below at the Missouri Botanic Garden. Perhaps they look better without leaves?

Ernie
