It looks like Thunbergia Alata or black eyed susan vine. These are fun and easy to grow from seeds.

Hey Paul -

I agree with the assesments of gardener2005 and imzadi..the plant shown is not any type of convolvulaceae and certainly looks like Thunbergia alata as a quick check in the PlantFiles shows the following distinguishing features...

Thunbergia alata has

seedpods and large calystegia-like bracts

leaf petioles that occur in pairs at the stem petiloe junction in contrast to all MG's which always have alternating leaves and the sepals are very different

dark color pigments along the entire length of the tube in Thunbergia with hairs sometimes at the mouth of the tube in Thunbergia, but no mouth hairs in Ipomoea obscura and dark pigmentation on Ipomoea obscura >only in the bottom of the tube

pistil and stamens reccessed deep near the bottom of the inner tube

Ipomoea obscura shows the following distinguishing features

Ipomoea obscura sideview showing
pistil and stamens clearly visible as lighter structures in the center of the tube and reaching upwards approximately to the mouth area of the tube

alternating leaves

sepals

Hope that helps in clarifying the ID...

Thanks every one

No question it is thungbergia aka Suzy Vine. I grew them on my split rail fence for a few years. For everyone else in the world they produced zillions of seeds. For me nary a 1. GRRRRRRR
