This is on my Passiflora vine. It's a beautifully built nest. I put my thumb in the picture for scale. It is 1 3/4 inch by 1/2 inch. can anyone tell me what's inside?
Thanks,
Maggie
CLOSED: What bug is in this nest?
It's probably a bagworm moth larva, Family Psychidae...here's a link: http://bugguide.net/node/view/122
Thanks, that's it. So this is a bad thing. What's the best way to kill it and the eggs that may be inside? I read that sometimes the female dies and the eggs hatch from the corpse. Is there a way to kill it without ruining the case and still be able to bring it inside eventually? the case is lovely.
Maggie
Wow! I've never seen one made from little sticks going every which way....but it's the right shape.
