This is one of my favorite perrienials and I have alot of seeds from the plant that I cut off. I'd like to start some so that in the spring I'll have little plants to set out. I should add that I live in zone 5. I've just planted some in a large shallow pot . Am I going about this the correct way? I've never planted perrienal seeds before. Perhaps they would just seed down by themselves but I'd like something to tend during the winter. Thanks for any help.
need advice on Sunrise Rubeckia
Are you talking Sunrise Echinacea or a Rudbeckia named sunrise?
Rudbeckia. I've found it spelled either way. Rubeckia or Rudbeckia. They bloom mid to late summer and last for months. They start out yellow with a brown center and then turn all brown.

If you are talking a 'soft-bodied' rudie like this one:

I start seeds indoors about 6 weeks before last avg frost date.
