It seems that this white MG always waits until October to even start to bloom. It is literally covered with buds and they remind me a lot of moon flowers, but they are much smaller and do not have a scent. They are however, beautiful.
If you look really closely, you can see a slight blue tinge where the bloom fans out like someone took a brush and barely brushed the bloom.
I should know the name of this, can't remember. Hope I can harvest some seeds, but since it is just now blooming, it will be close.

This big beautiful white MG is starting to bloom...
Hi Susan,
The flower looks nice...the plant is an Ipomoea tricolor and looks like the cultivar "Pearly Gates" although PG's should be all white except for the yellow throat...sometimes "Flying Saucers" and "Blue Star" can appear almost white, but it's more likely that your Pearly Gates picked up a hint of blue from some of the other Ipomoea tricolor cultivars....even seeds directly out of the pack could actually show coloration picked up from other cultivars...
Looks nice whatever cultivar it may be...
TTY,...

Love the white Susan.
There are two this morning. One with a blue brushing and one without.
Yes, I remember now, it IS Pearly Gates and that one is always late for me.
Can't wait for the morning when it covered with white....hope, hope, hope....

I'm growing the Pearly Gates MG too. Mine didn't bloom either until just a few weeks ago but they are really putting on a great show now. Some of mine also have the tiny blue tint in the veins. Mine stay open very late in the evening. Till almost dark. I hope mine will reseed.
