LOL, doesn't Max the cat look like he is going to cry? It is so cold here, on the verge of a storm. Poor little guy, he is cold. It is 61 degrees. Time to get a winter coat growing.
I am so unhappy!
Poor kitty. It was 40 here this morning. Wanna send him to Ohio to toughen up? :)
Great photo Kell! Which brug is that?
Poor Baby send him to South Texas its in the 90's here.
elva
Lol Elva.......lucky Max! I would love the 60's!
Kell.....pretty brug with the that purple plant....what is that purple plant?......it's pretty too.
I would Elva but I would miss him too much. LOL
It is an unnamed one Chele that took 3 years to bloom. It almost got sacked. It has a very fancy pedigree but its corolla tube is too white and it recurves too much. I do not love it and was going to toss it but then decided that since it has a fancy double Mom I would keep it to use her on a few double pinks flowers for fun. It also has such thick corollas that I used it on a favorite of mine that wilts too easily. And of course tendrils to die for.
Aww, poor baby. My cat know what cold is, SNOW even!
Nice color, tendrils. Mine sometimes curl up so tight, tendris almost disappear. Not too happy when they do that.
What a sweetie! I wish mine would pose under my brugs, but he's the true "scardy cat," because he freaks out every time he goes outside.
I like your brug too... very nice orangy tint.
Kell
you can come too ! Kell than we can drive over to see Susie ! That would cheer ya up !

Oh Gloria, I too do not like the tight recurve. Ruins the line of the flower.
Felicia, that is where Max sits all day. He sits up there and looks down at all the goings on the street.
Someday I am going to make it to Susie's, Elva!
If You come to Susie's You'all better call me and I will drive over..
Elva
DON'T send him here kell, it was 38 this morning and they are predicting snow flurries for next week, as you can guess I am busy getting in my Brugs, and cutting down the ones that are to big to dig up, I have mailed out soooo many boxes the past two weeks and have three more to go Monday.
Snow flurries?????
Indiana, didn't you hear that this morning, at least for here and Rush Co. naturaly they are NEVER wrong LOL
Nope.
Our forecast for Thursday night and Friday are: lows in the upper 30's, and highs in the mid 50's. The forecast before that is highs in the 70's and lows in the 40's.
No way am I ready to rush around and make cuttings!!!
You are absolutely right, Doris, the meteorologists are NEVER wrong!! LOL
What a great picture, Kell. I love that Tibouchina in the background. You always take such great photos.
Oh Doris, SNOW! My snow days are long over. I grew up n NJ. Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. LOL
Well we are 63 here but sunny. The weatherman had predicted 2 days of a storm, instead we got some rain for a few hours and then a cloudy cold day. So Doris there is hope your forecast is wrong!!
I need to start nudging Tom to put up my hoophouse again. If I start now he will do it by the last weekend in October.
THANKS Clare! Your photos are not so bad either! LOL. Your plumie photos make me want everyone.
Fly girl, Clare is right the purple tree is Tibouchina urvilleana. I have 3 trees across my front just in front of my fence so it is a great backdrop to my courtyard. They are in flower up until Christmas some years. For the last 2 years we have pruned them way too hard in spring so they didn't start blooming heavily much to my chagrin, till late summer.
I am so hot to get another variety I found last week that had lots of red in the leaves and stems and a lighter but more interesting bloom. It is proving hard to find though I have a promnise of cuttings.
Kell,
There is another Tibouchina with Large leaves and much prettier flowers. Check on that one. I have seen it and it's beautiful. I have the one that you have......for now.....
BTW......it's 85 and sunny here right now.....hehehehe
Oh Hap, do not be a tease. What is the name? LOL
There are about 300 specias of Tibouchina and I want to see them all. LOL
I wonder if yours is one of these Tibouchina heteromalla or Tibouchina grandiflora. Both are available here but I have never seen either as a tree like the urvilleana gets to be. I wonder if they are more cold sensitive and die back regularly. And though I do love the leaves on heteromalla a lot more than the urvillea, the flowers are not as plentiful and as big.
I am now on the trail of a white flowered one with purple stamens. LOL. Too much for my aging heart.
Just beautiful, Kell! Purple is such a great color for flowers! Those leaves with the red edge are just too pretty! Wow! (((No, I don't have room; I don't have room; I don't have room... LOL!))) Here's mine. Hey, if that Ylang Ylang tree on the right there drops dead this winter -- it is planted in the ground for the first time -- then I'll have room!
Ohhh Max looks like he has the purrrfect spot for the garden. He does look a little on the cool side. Probably because he has the best spot on the block to look at your garden!!!! He's COOL!!!
Speaking of cool the nights are here also but this week we could hit 80 degrees again!!
Thanks for sharing Max with us. Just a good little pick me up I needed.
Thanks Kell
I have never tried to root cuttings, Mommum. Sorry. Maybe someone else knows.
LOL Clare, sometimes I am greatful if one of my plants die. Isn't that terrible? LOL. I just do not have the heart to tear some out. You get attached. Your looks like Tibouchina urvilleana like mine. Beware, it gets huge too. LOL But pruning will help contain it.
I now want a white one but I can't find much info on it. Here is a pic I stole from Hodniks online. Isn't it divine??
Tibouchina Elsa
Oh Kin when I posted Max I thought of you and was hoping it wouldn't make you sad. I hope things are a bit better.
Max is getting old. We adopted him and his sister Molly Mouse at least 12 years ago. My son just called and we were trying to figure it out. He was grammar school and now he is 24. I was out earlier on a ladder pollinating and looked across and there was Molly Mouse sunbathing then she had a bath on the roof. I was calling her name and she never even looked at me. I do not think she knows it. She is so lovable but so stupid.
Yeah, Kell. I'm usually bummed for about five seconds, and then I'm on to thinking about what I will plant there in its place! Ha! I know what you mean that it is hard to tear stuff out sometimes, but when it becomes a pain due to insect infestation or constant pruning, it is easier to do. I've got to pull out that stupid loquat before it gets to be a real tree. That white one is lovely. Kell, it is possible that your old girl's hearing is not what it used to be. The colors in your garden are breath-taking.
Hang in there, Kin. I know what you are going through. It gets better. The hole in your heart and your life will be filled up again when you adopt again so I hope you will soon. See my adoptee below.
Great Kell..
Lovely white Tib.. great purple in it also.. Your origional picture seemed fine to me... but I've not the discriminating eye you have...or I just love them all.. there's always some redeaming feature.. usually odor..I just love every one.. [that flowers much of the time]
Max and I feel about the same... nothing like laying about in the suns warmth... and the onset of the cold is reason enough to cry..
Gordon
GEEZ kell, why don't you feed that poor cat,
Awe, that is so cute of the one where they are napping together! LOL! Yeah, I have a soft spot in my heart for tabby cats. Nearly all my cats have been gray tabbies. Madam is the one I had for nine years and died this year last February, and that is when I got Buddy in March. I looked at Buddy and saw how he looked so much like Madam only with green eyes, and I knew he was the one. He was very sick when I adopted him. He was sneezing repeatedly, and they said he had a fever. They kept telling me that I could refuse the adoption, and I got mad. I said "No, I want him. I just want you to treat him, or give me some antibiotics to take with me." His muscles were atrophied from being in a small cage for God knows how long. He had trouble jumping up and down for a little while, but he got better quickly and now is the king of the house:-) How's this for a good stretch? Don't you wish you could stretch like this? LOL!
Alright, I must show my baby's picture as well.
He's been so protective of me this past week because he knows I've been very sad. My boyfriend of 6 years, told me last Saturday that we "need time apart," and took all his stuff out of my house. He came over last night for a bit, and darned if Taz didn't sit right between us to "protect" me.
Alright, excuse his eyes. This house must have been built on an ancient kitty burial site or something. :) Oh, and he loves shoes.
Anyway, here he is....
Well Nick and Madam are in cat heaven together then, Clare. Always loved.
I got such a kick out of having a picture of Nick that looked just like your Buddy and in the same pose too in front of our computers. Buddy is lucky you have him. I just love cats so much.
Nick was really my son's cat and my son was Nick's person. He would always sleep on his bed even when he would be gone for months at school. And then T would come home and Nick would sleep with him just like he had never left. The first time T was home after Nick passed was just so sad for TT.
Oh Felicia, I am so sorry. Taz is just beautiful, and I love that picture. My Molly loves leather shoes. Listen, your cat is worth 10 of your boyfriend. Taz is true blue.
Thank you, Kell. That is so sweet of you to say. Taz has been true blue for the last 13 years. :)
How about this. I told the "boyfriend" (whatever he is now), that I am going to an Aerosmith concert by myself tomorrow night. He said he wants to go, and that it would be his birthday gift to me. So, Two 2nd row center tickets: $200 each. Hotel, $150 per night. Total cost: $550.00 for being a jerk. Not enough in my opinion, but it's a start.
He's jealous of the brugs, ya know. ;)
Are you REALLY going?
Hap
Hap,
Tickets purchased, hotel reservation made, you betcha I'm going, with or without! This will be my ummm .. 9th or 10th Aerosmith concert. Happy Birthday to me!!
Unfortunately, the last two concerts we had tickets for were cancelled (we had made vacation plans around both canceled concerts). So, it's been about 3 years since I've seen them. And, I'm taking my DIGITAL CAMERA with me.
I need to get into total excitement mode now!!!
Hap,
I guess I forgot to mention that he gave me his credit card number and expiration date to buy the tickets and make the hotel reservations. ;) I worked hard for the 6 years of merely dating.
Indi.
You mean YOU are going... He doesn't have to go....????? !!!!!????
I AM GOING. He is paying for it. If he chooses not to go, I'll sell his ticket at the door, or try to find someone to gow with me at the last second (don't have anyone to ask, but it sounded good). I'll have the hotel room to myself if he does not go. I AM GOING WITH OR WITHOUT HIM. I told him that this is what I am doing because I am going crazy with work (they have me doing 2 full time jobs now), and the fact that he packed his stuff up last weekend. I told him I need to get away. I need this concert for MY sanity. He just jumped on the bandwagon at the last second, that's why he's paying for it - a birthday gift (guilt, because this is all I have asked for, for months and he hasn't bought anything for me yet).
I'll be in section 200, row B, which is the first section out of the "PIT," second row. Dead center. My daughter said, "you'll be so close, what if Steven Tyler spits on you?" I said: "I'll sell it on e-bay and will be able to quit working." LOL!!
Tickets have been printed, hotel is reserved in my name. I'll work till 12:00, then get ready and go.
Hap, he's spent 4 days a week with me for the last 6 years. Not quite living together, but awfully darned close. We've been through a lot. Anyway, that's for another forum.
