Good Morning October Bingo

Just a thought, but maybe you could hold the $25 and let the winner pick where they'd like their gift certificate from. Dave's Violets has tons I'd like, so in that situation, he's the one I'd want a GC to, but others might want one from Rob's, or Violet Gallery, or Pat's Pets, whereever... Might not be a good idea or a feasible one, but the thought struck me...

Yes the Gift Cert for $25.00 can be any place that sells them ! There might even be a seller out of the Country that sells them. ?
Prize one First Winner Gift Cert . and Box Four can ship out of the Country as it will have no leaves or plants ~ can be shipped out of the USA ! The other prizes will be shipped with in the USA only.
If someone wants to donate alternate prizes for Winners Two and Three if Winners are out of the USA this will be great too !

I don't know about you guys but I think Nancy B. should donate one of her lovely AVs! Her very own hybrids are gorgeous!

Just a thought... If the second or third place winner happens to be over the border, perhaps they could get the 4th place prize and the other places could be juggled accordingly (eg, if the second place winner is from Canada, they'd get the 4th box, and then the third place winner would get the second box and the fourth place winner would get the third box).

I really appreciate everyone jumping in to do this game... I was afraid folks were going to be disappointed by my delaying my Bingo until later in October after I get back from NC (I'll be home by either the 11th or the 14th). I am wondering, however... Allison, did you really mean you weren't starting until Monday the 26th? I thought you mentioned an earlier start date somewhere near the top of this thread.... If this game doesn't start until the last week in October, I may have to rethink my game or come up with a prize that won't mind being shipped in cold weather (I haven't ever used heat packs and am a little nervous about them).

I could donate one of my plants but it may not go out until next spring if the game runs too late.
We have our state show and sale this coming weekend so I can't tell you right now what I can offer. I hope to sell some of mine there and I am also saving a couple to show at the national show in Denver.
There is a chance I could still send a plant in Nov. but everything depends on the weather and I do not use heat packs. I have received too many mushy leaves and plants that way. Today it was 75 and by Thurs. we will have a high of 40 as well as snow showers. You just don't know what will happen around here from now on.

Oh Jill sorry I did not go back and read but must be a typo error.
I am posting Bingo list today ! And giving everyone until midnight on the 15th to get their cards into Lauri and the game will begin on the 16 th. If all cards get in before we can start earlier but I do recall Linda will be back on 13th. and wanted to play.

Wow! This is shaping up to be a game and a half!! :-)

In terms of shipping out of the country, I need to check to be sure about the legalities, but I am thinking I'd be willing to send an assortment of leaves to a Canadian winner but not a full prize box of plantlets. It takes enough time and effort to grow them to their current size that I'm unwilling to risk their being delayed at the border and arriving dead (or not arriving at all).

I know some folks have been putting on their thinking caps already about sponsoring winter Bingo games with non-plant prizes, and there won't be shipping problems with those. Maybe one of our Canadian members will sponsor a spring Bingo game.

Now I have to go check the list for the new game!

As of tonight we are back home in Frederick!

We were visiting Jim's folks in Winston-Salem for a week, and then we spent a week or so at the beach with my parents and my brother's family (who drove down from Pittsburgh). Some friends of ours own a beach house in Emerald Isle (near Swansboro, not too far from Moorhead City, for those familiar with that part of the coast), and my folks rent it for a week each fall. If there are no renters the week before and/or after our week, my folks often stay for a few extra days on either end, courtesy of our friends. We didn't end up heading out toward Durham while we were in NC, or I'd have given Jesse a holler! :-)

I will have to assess my AVs and see about my Bingo game. It looks like a flat or two of babies were underwatered -- some may recover, others are crispy. With all the plants I have, I almost expect to lose a few, although it's hard for a "plant person" like me to see how people can fail to see that a plant has lost half its leaves and is turning toasty brown from lack of water... Oh well, the cat and the fish are fine, anyway. I think we had enough rain while we were away that I'm not too worried about what the outside plants may look like....

Great Jill ! Your home ! Hope your feeling good. How long were you on vacation ? Travel time you may have to rent up a day or two. They say people need a vacation to recover from a vacation. Did you take a lot of pictures !
How often did your friend come to take care of your plants ? It's most likley hard for someone not use to taking care of plants take care of so many plants and babies and miniatures always need a lot of extra tender loving care.
Hope they will be OK. How did your older/larger plants do ? maybe you can give mostly leaves for Bingo ?
Heh how is your cutie Electric Cowboy ? I gave mine all away. One AV I would not mind a leaf or two of. Pretty please :))
