California Fuchsia again

Here is another view of the plant. That is Moonshine Yarrow in the foreground with a NZ Flax on the left margin.

I love the fuchsia mendo. This particular shot made me moan out loud because there was a gorgeous Moonshine Yarrow in the corner of the yard until about a month ago. Gophers got it. One morning I was looking at it thinking "hmmmm, this shouldn't be going dormant this early surely," and when I pulled on one of the leaves the whole thing just popped right up. Not one itsy bitsy bit of root left. Little buggers.

I have been fortunate that gophers don't trouble my garden. I would certainly be upset if they bothered my Moonshine Yarrow, as I just love everything about it-the foliage, the flower color and the fact that it reblooms all season. Also, it is just a tough plant that takes our extreme summer heat. You can even plant it in the middle of summer here, and never see any stress on a new planting. Amazing cultivar.

I'm in the process of pruning back the sages and thought the Moonshine would look great at the front of that bed.....and probably be happy there. What can I plant between them to make the silver shout? Something bronzy or chocolate?

Bronze or purple would be a nice background for the silver for sure. Depends on how much space you have. You could plant a Berberis Crimson Pygmy or maybe a Euphorbia amygdaloides Purpurea. Or something along those lines.

I just happen to have a fat clump of Moonshine with lots of babies. Stella, do you need more?

Yes, yes, yes! D-mail with what you want for them. Oh lucky me.
