I would love an Id on this colorful guy. Thanks, Patti
CLOSED: Id please.
It's a Black and Yellow Argiope, or Argiope aurantia...very nice!
Ditto on the Argiope. First post here. Trying it out! MBB
That's the one :) I have these all over out here and enjoy watching them.
There's a lot of good images and info on these on the BugGuide "Guide Page" for this species . . . if anyone is interested? http://bugguide.net/node/view/2025
Thank you all for the quick Id. As a bookseller for 30 years, it was great to know our garden friend was the same that inspired the book, Charlotte's Web. Patti
Bbrook, I thought that too, but someone (niere?) quoted the book a while back, and apparently Charlotte introduces her self as,"A. cavaticus", Araneus genus, not nearly as pretty. I'll try to find the thread.
Here it is, Niere's post, about 15 down: http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/75596/
Bookseller, huh? Your spouse has my sympathy lol
claypa, He owned a boatyard for years, but then joined me flogging books. Books and Boat are his true love. I come in a close third. Thanks for the information. Patti
