are the seeds real small sticks? If the seeds are coming out easily of a still green seedhead are they ready?
thanks for any help you can offer!
moonbeam coreopsis
they are really tiny. wait until the seedhead turns black. It should look like a squashed spider. Then it will just fall apart in your hand, and the spiny things are the seeds.
Do the seeds look different for different coreopsis? The ones for my lanceleaf were identified on a seed site as NOT the sticks but the little half kernel looking things, whereas I ordered some Ticks and Quills coreopsis seeds and they are all the little stick looking pieces. I'm starting to have more appreciation for why seed packets are as pricey as they are...LOL! Just the time to check every plant every day is costly :)
Thanks for any clarification you all might have to offer.

yes, they are different. I have sunburst and early sunrise, both of which are the kernels. The moonbeam are the little sticks.
Thanks for clarifying that for me jburesh. I was afraid I'd sent someone the wrong things in a trade! Ack.
