I also received a box of goodies from Mel today and as usual they are very nice, healthy well grown plants/cuttings!
I got H macrophylla variegata ,awesome coloration on those leaves. i cant wait to see what an entire basket of it is going to look like. After seeing this plant in person I think it might very well have become my favorite hoya!!
Thanks Mel

Mel's cleaning out her greenhouse.......
Wow, what a beautiful plant !! Hey was that listed under the P's or the H, Hide from Tammy? Oh well, sigh..
HAHAHAHAHAHA, it was under A for Ann (snicker)
It's been over a year now!!! How are everyones plants doing????
I don't know how the plants are doing that people ordered from Mel a year ago, but the cuttings that I got from her a couple of months ago are doing great. These were the strongest best looking cuttings that I have purchased from anyone so far. I look forward to buying cuttings from her hopefully for years to come.

Jeri
Jeri11 , Don't fell to bad, you are not by yourself. I just did the same thing. So now she is going to think we are both nuts. LOL :))))))))
I'm placing an order!!! I'm not laughing now!! I have a great big smile!!!!
Jeri
OH Jeri, How did you do that? I so happy for you. Know you will get some nice ones. :))))))))
LOL. Mel sent me her Hoya list a couple of months ago and I never got around to ordering! Lots going on and just totally forgot about it. I will have to e-mail her to see if she will have any plants available in spring.
Well lucky you. Yes I guess its getting to late to order now. I just brought mine in for the winter as the nights are getting a little cool here. :)))
I have some on my front porch and some out on my back deck. I won't have to move anything in until probably January which is our coldest month!
It's the nights in our # 10 zones that do us in. The days are fine all winter, but sometime between midnight and sunrise..it gets down too cold for most tropical plants. Then after sunrise...back up goes the temps. A lot of them can take just the few hours that it goes down, but many can't too.
That's why even here we have to bring them in or have a greenhouse for those nightime temps.
Now if I only had ONE plant...I could just set it out on the patio table for the day, and bring it in with the dog at night. Ha.

No such thing as just one plant- maybe 100 or 1000 But not 1 LOL
No one just covers them with cotton sheets?
That is it. I lost about 20 plants last winter by haveing them out side. Not doing it this year. When I can afford to buy reg. heat mats so I can keep them in my little greenhouse's then I will just keep them out all winter. They do like the days here but not the nights. Besides there my babys, they are worth the xrtra work. :))))
It's really amazing how much different the zones are. Zone 10 here in Florida I don't think anyone ever has to move plants inside. My Sister and her husband are in Fort Lauderdale area (zone 10) and they don't ever get real cold down there. Well, if it gets down to 50 they are freezing! LOL.
I bring in my Orchids and a couple of other's that I wouldn't want to get too cold but other than that everything else gets covered with old blankets and sheets. I am zone 9a and we do at times get frost and have had a hard freeze, although few and far between thank goodness!
