Dogwood putting on new buds!

Okay , here we are the end of September and my Dogwoods are starting to bloom again! I thought at first they were the fruits but I noticed closer and they are new buds!! the fruits are red!! We havent had any cold weather here yet! So what has happened to confuse my trees?????

Not many dogwoods growing up here, but aren't those next year's flower buds? Looks normal to me.

Wow, I never thought that they would set blooms this early for next year!!! Maybe that means we willhave another short winter??????

Yea...the flower buds add a lot of wintertime interest to early spring blooming trees like dogwoods and magnolias.

Mine is doing the same thing on a very young tree, setting buds and lots of them, it hasn't bloomed yet, so I am very excited!

I dont believe I have ever seen this many buds before! It looks like Spring will be even more beautiful than before!

What type of Dogwood is the picture of? I just check my Cornus florida and it had a few buds but nothing like the picture above.

Hi Brent, I am assuming that mine are also Cornus Florida! We have these around the edge of our Prperty and are thinking they were just here as natural to the area seeded by birds! Our area is full of these naturally, We live in the Oconee Forest area of Ga.
