Has anyone eaten this mainly oriental MG relative? Anybody know why it is not toxic like other MG's?

It is ipomoea aquatica and is sometimes called "swamp cabbage" but there are other water plants that are called "swamp cabbage" so it can be confusing. I just found the photo, and haven't tried it. We don't have thant many ethnic restaurants where I live in Oregon. I was wondering if anyone else into oriental food has tried it.

baolvera - I've eaten it...it tasted sort of like spinach, but with a hint of okra...it's not toxic like many other MG's because it doesn't have the same potentially harmful alkaloids in the foliage as most other MG's do...there are also other edible MG species...most require some type of preparation like cooking, but some of the greens can be eaten raw like the Ipomoea aquatica and Ipomoea batatas...

If I even see it on a menu, I want to try it!
