As a follow up to the what's worked well and what hasn't thread, I thought I'd post a few pics of some of my stuff that performed the best. I wanted to add a couple of shots of the black and blue salvia that seemed hit or miss for some folks this year. I don't know what I did right, but mine still looks pretty good. If anyone else has recent pics from end of Aug to early Sept, I'll love to see what survived for y'all. August seems to be the killer month for me. If it makes it past that, it's a keeper.
This is black and blue salvia, Jo Barbre yellow daylilies in front, pink buttergly bush behind the salvia and an esperanza, perillas and vitex in the rear of the bed. Once the esperanza and vitex get a little larger, I'm thinking this color and texture combo will look really pretty. All these plants were newly planted, most in May. I'm thrilled with the amount of growth we've had so far. Next year should be nice.

What survived August's heat and humitidty.
That looks beautiful!!!! Congratulations!!!
Josephine.
Wow. Everything looks great. The lush, green lawn is amazing. I won't be posting any pictures of my lawn anytime soon.
Wow, I really like the contrast of colors and textures! Thanks for some great ideas..nancy
Very pretty crow. Watch that Porterweed, it reseeds like a demon. I quit growing it a few years back and am still pulling plants. Its a good plant--just keep it deadheaded.
Great pics Crow, I especially like the mermaid in the lawn chair.
Thanks for all the kind comments.
Fly, I too especially like the mermaid. She weighs a ton though, because she's cast iron. I would have her seated at the edge of the pool, but I think the pool chemicals would react with the metal, so she gets her own little chair.
DMJ, thanks for the warning on the porterweed. I love it so much I won't mind it reseeding. This is the first year I've had it and it's my new "favorite" plant. Of course that status changes from minute to minute almost.
Crow, my Plumeria is getting ready to bloom too, for the first time. Is it unusual for this time of year?
Fly, all my other plumerias bloom much earlier than this one and are still blooming. I don't know why it's different. Last year, it had a ton of buds just as the first freeze was predicted. I had to move it inside and not a one of the buds ever opened. My others are still blooming, so I think it's just odd that this one waits so long to put out it's first blooms. Oh well, I like 'em whenever they decide to bloom!
aww...crow...I'm just so jealous of your black & blue salvia.., goodness, but they're beautiful plants...mine look so sad right now.. :(

Crowelli, your flowerbeds are amazing!!

Beautiful pictures! I'm really just starting my garden (moved the end of May) but I put in some roses and they're finding the cooler temps very comfortable. I almost lost some potted herbs to the heat, but everyone's recovering now.
And I'm sneaking out to a nursery this afternoon. Don't tell on me.
