Thanks Moe! Hopefully someone will offer it soon! I am anxiously awaiting!!
Cleome lutea - yellow beeplant
Thanks Moe, I will have to check into those in the near future :o)
You all are great, thanks for all the help and support. I know we will get some of these sooner or later.
Connie
Hello all,
I just thought I would resurrect this thread to let you know that cleome lutea is in full bloom all over central Nevada and I have gathered about 100 seeds to trade. You can find them here http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/862589/.
bump LOL
Well I did receive some seeds from a DG buddy and I can't believe it has taken this long, I finally have 3 cleome lutea plants, but their not even a foot tall, but they bloomed and are so cute, not sure if there will be seeds from any of them. I would take a picture, but my camera bit the dust :( so hopefully I will get a few seeds for next year and get a camera for Christmas this year lol.
I have noticed that in my neck of the woods that all cleomes aren't doing so good this year as far as growth goes. I had all the colors 2 years ago (- the lutea) next to the privacy fence and they out grew it, they were so tall but this year not even over a couple feet tall.
Anyway, just wanted to let you all know I finally got the lutea to grow here for me ^_^
Connie
Connie, It is good to see you. Hope every one is ok your way.

Wow Pepsi...good for you! Mine never germinated at all. I was so sad.
All my other cleome are doing well..most are 5 ft. tall!
Hi Connie, my cleomes aren't getting as talll or as big around as usual either I'm wondering if it's all of the rain we have been having though we are just getting about an inch a week now just where it should be. Most of mine are so short they kind of look funny compaired to what they have been in the last years. I only have the pink/white ones.
Glad you finally got the lutea to grow for you, pat yourself on the back for me, if at first you don't succeed just try and try again lol That's what gardening is all about, get those luteas to going good and trade me some seeds in the future :)
Sorry the cleomes haven't germinated for most of you. I planted some of the seed I gathered and they haven't come up either. The ones on the roadside look perfectly happy this year thanks to abundant rains this spring. The seed pods were not ripe as of last week but the plants were three feet tall in places. If anyone has a friend in Panaca, Nevada, there are large stands of plants along the roadsides there that should be ripe soon. Too bad it's so far from my house.
Kat,
I think the reason mine aren't any bigger than a foot is because we haven't had a lot of rain in my part of Mi. we did get a little bit this morning but the ground is dry already :( even the veggie garden looks pitiful...
If you by chance do get to collect more seeds, I'd gladly pay you postage for them ^_^
I don't think these are going to produce seed pods, but they do have the cutest flower, even if it is small LOL
Connie
that is OK. My other cleome did not germinate either. so not just the yellow ones.
Someone had sent me a few yellow cleome seeds, but none germinated. Oh, well.
Nope none of mine germinated either...glad to here it wasn't me!! LOL
