Getting my b&d order ready - what are you ordering?

Lindenhurst, NY

I'm onto my B&D order now. I'm starting to look through their catalog -- any "must haves" you can suggest?

p.s. I have to tell you guys, I really love this forum here at Dave's garden. I used to post on the gardenweb but it is really slow there.

Have a good night, I'll be back to tell you all what I'm ordering...

"Pookie" is great - haven't seen a better gold band lily anywhere! I highly recommend it. Aww wait I just looked at B&D's site and it isn't offered this year :-( I ordered it a couple of years ago. It came back last year and below is a flower from it. I may ask them if they have any available even though they're not listed this year.

They do have "Dubonette" and I have ordered that one. Looks like a dark Stargazer but much bigger, flatter flowers and more outfacing. I would recommend that one if you like dark red/burgundy lilies.

"Maribelle" is a nice Asiatic I have had good luck with as well.

Good luck in your search!

I really enjoyed the deep color of Sumatra. I don't know if my photo does it justice. The color was so deep and dark in a pink form. Tropical Isle is another one of my favorites. Space Mountain looks very nice, but is more expensive. Their catalog is such high quality. It's one of my favorite things to get in the mail.
This is Sumatra, her first year...

I placed my order back in June, and had to go searching for a copy of the e-mail confirmation. The lilies I ordered are Twinkles, San Souci, Velvet Gown, Salmon Jewels, Elfin Delight, Firesong, Lillte Eve, Carnival, and Pink Ribbons.

Last year I ordered a number of new (for me) lilies, and especially loved Rio Negro and Nymph. Rio Negro's deep redness looked very rich and almost unreal.

Have fun!

Steve, magnolia and BLC: thanks for the B & D tip. I just spent over an hour looking and writing up an order but can't see how to select bonus plants. Yes, I passed $100. much to my surprise and delight. If anyone can help I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

I know that at B&D's you get to select one from each level(one from the $50 level & one from the $100 level) if you reach the $100 mark. I did mine by mail, so I just added them on the form. If you use it online, see what happens when you go throught the checkout. If you don't see it, but I bet you do, call them after placing your order. They are really great about answering during the weekday hours. Anne Marie has taken my phone calls.
BTW Nymph is just gorgeous. I looked all over my archives for a picture, but RATS! I forgot to take one.
You'll be one happy lily lover when you get that box.

I have about 100 of them but you know how it is when the fever hits!

I went through check out but not with the credit card information and the bonus plant choices never appeared.

Thanks for the help. I just might print it out and mail it with a note as to the bonuses.

Or just email them ~ they're very good about checking and getting back to you.

I placed my order. And here's what I'm getting:

NYMPH
SWEETHEART
SUMATRA
FIRST CROWN
TROPICAL ISLE
PINK PERFECTION STRAIN
VICE VERSA

Then I just started adding things on, now I don't remember them all but this is most of them :-) I'm out of control

Also, I sent them an email asking about exhibition size, and Bob answered the next day with a lengthy very informative reply. Really went out of his way to help me, I love it!!

HI Pirl. Isn't it a gorgeous day on Long Island? I'm heading out now.

I feel better since I'm not alone :-)

No, you're not alone. Finally, the sun came out. We've been sun deprived since Friday.
