Thanks -- I had forgotten about that article. Still waiting for my copy to arrive so I can see what I wrote during that late night last winter! Maackia already told me that hardiness zones were added to my text, and that some of them were overly conservative. But the editor there has been a good guy to work with over the years, and very knowledgeable about nearly all things horticultural.

I think it can also be read on this website if you have a membership. http://www.ahs.org/publications/the_american_gardener/0609/index.htm
I don't think you can find it at newstands, I think you have to be a member of AHS to get it.
