Tinkerbell vs. L. cernuum

Lindenhurst, NY

I saw Tinkerbell for sale on The Lily garden. It is so beautiful and 15.00

I read in the description that it is a ringer for L. cernuum. I'm new to lilies, so looked up L. cernuum and saw that Buggy crazy sells it for 3.00 (The lily garden does not list L.cernuum for sale)

Anyone know what the difference between the 2 lilies are? And why such a big difference in price? Are they comparable lilies?

Thanks

Tinkerbell is a cernuum hybrid. According to The Lily Register:

[(Hartford x Connecticut Lass) x L. cernuum)] x L. cernuum

I have grown neither of these. It could be that Tinkerbell looks like cernuum but is hardier. But personally I am not up to spending 15 bucks on it. If you really like the look of it why not try a couple of cernuums and if they don't work for you then go for Tinkerbell. Maybe by that time the price will have come down.

I have a tissue culture of Tinkerbell in progress but I expect I'll kill it when I remove it from it's medium. So for now I'm leaving it there. It seems happy at least for the time being.

I grow both. Tinkerbelle is a tiny bit different in color than cernuum and has different foliage. They photograph to be the same shade.
