Mountain ash are extremely common as a landscape tree in St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada. Waxwings and Robins go crazy for them.

I saw the Japanese Mountain Ash http://davesgarden.com/pf/go/140194/index.html for the first time this year and the colour is quite outstanding with nice fine foliage.
