Magnolia or Michelia?

I've come across plants labelled Magnolia that were Michelia ie. Magnolia martinii and things that I suppose are Magnolia that are labelled Michelia. Where is it at at the change-over and is it "published" or acceptable?

Here's a reference from the Magnolia society, I guess if anyone knows the official rules it should be them! Looks like Magnolia is the officially accepted name for Michelia now.
