UC Berkeley Botanical Garden Fall Plant Sale
Do you know if they're doing the shuttle to the parking lot by Lawrence Hall of Science? I know they've done this in the past when I've gone to these, but usually it says something about parking on the website and I didn't see anything there this time.
I believe so. It's become pretty standard the last couple of years. The person who updated our website left to take another position. He's been helping us out anyway, but I think he probably forgot to put the parking info in. I'll double-check tomorrow and let you know.
Sounds like the place to be Marilyn!!
There is a shuttle--I got the email about the sale this morning from the person who sends out the member updates and it was in there that there will be a shuttle.
Yep - I verified it myself today. Please stop by the cacti & succulents area and introduce yourself - it's great to put a name and face together!
Kell - see you and Lali Sunday too, I hope!
Marilyn
Will definitely do that! I've got my eye on one of the plants in the silent auction and there are of course a few other "must haves" on the list so I wouldn't miss it!
Great! See y'all Sunday!
BTW: Here are some more cacti & succulents I'll have available that aren't on my list:
Adenium arabicum
Aloinopsis rosulata
Caralluma acutangula
Echinocereus scheeri ssp. gentryi
Epithelantha micromeris
Fockea edulis
Fouquieria diguettii
Idria columnaris
Trichocereus terscheckii
Uncarina roesliana
I hope to have a selection of Euphorbias, a couple more Adeniums, and some other unusual succulents too, but I'm not sure they'll be delivered in time.
Marilyn
I'm really bummed, I had to miss the sale because my dog was sick that morning, and if I left him to go buy plants and he got worse I never would have forgiven myself! Oh well, there's always the spring sale!
Thanks, Kell, for posting the pictures even though I look awful, as usual! It was great seeing you again. We need to do lunch SOON. The sale was a marvelous success. Hope all of the DGers in the Bay Area can make it to our spring sale. It will probably be April 28 (member sale Friday night, April 27).
ecrane - I looked for you. So sorry you had to miss the sale, but I'm also a dog person - I understand exactly what you mean. Is your furkid OK now?
We'll have a LOT of plants at the spring sale too. Those that didn't get sold at the fall sale will have a chance to grow up for 6 months. That is, unless I sell them on the plant deck between now and then! LOL
Marilyn
I think I'll be hitting the plant deck to see what's leftover this weekend on my way back from Annie's Fall Planting Party (I'm going to try not to miss that one too, although I have a friend in town this weekend so we'll see!) My dog's a bit better, he's been throwing up a lot but I think it's because he's been really itchy from something and is chewing himself a lot, then he ends up swallowing hair and that's what makes him sick. That's the best the vet and I can figure at least! But he's been a little better the last couple days so I'm not as worried as I was before.
Sorry I had to miss it too, and what do ya mean you look awful Marilyn??!! Look at laughing happy smile, that is a real nice happy plant lover shot! I like it!
Shoot and now I have to miss Annie's sale too, I am hobbling around with one crutch, tore ligaments in my right ankle on Tues. when I twisted it and fell. DH said no way are you going, you can't even drive! Phooey! I even have my wish list all printed out and ready to go. Double phooey.
Oh well, there's always another day and online shopping. ☺
Why can't DH take your list and go to Annie's and get your plants for you? I think that would be a very nice thing for him to do! I would offer to get stuff for you too except I won't know until the last minute whether I can even get there this weekend or not. But the sale actually continues for the rest of the year, so unless the plants you wanted are ones that they're going to run out of quickly you can go anytime between now and when they close down in December and still get the discount.
ecrane - Glad to hear your dog is somewhat better. I have a dog who's also very itchy, and I purchased something called Septiderm-V online which works wonders. It comes as a shampoo and a lotion, and I use both. Not very expensive when ordered from www.entirelypets.com I got the 16 oz size. Is there anything in particular that you're looking for at the Garden? I can bring down any cactus or succulent you're looking for. I have to be in Berkeley tomorrow anyway. I'll send you a dmail with my email address - that's the quickest way to get in touch.
SusieQ - What am I going to do with you? You need to take better care of yourself, lady! If there's something you can't live without, just let me know. I'm sending you a dmail with my email address. I'm only a few minutes away from Annie's and can try to get whatever you'd like. Are you going to the October 7 RU in Moraga? If I get plants for you I could bring them to you there. Let me know what I can do to help.

Ohhh, ecrane, the extended sale thing I didn't catch anywhere but if that's the case, I will not worry, it's not all that important really, it was more the event and being able to browse I looked forward to. I just checked and now there are only only a couple of things available now, one is a plecanthrus and it's not a super must have right now.
Funny, asking DH to get plants for me!! My Mom came by to see me and I was telling her that now I couldn't make it to Annie's now and he was standng there rolling his eyes, said "yeah, you are so running out of plants, soon there will be nothing out there, such a shame". He drips with sarcasm quite often.
I don't know what he is talking about.
Sue, You can never have too many plants! But I can see why he wouldn't be the right person to send to Annie's for you! They don't generally mention that the sale continues past the planting party (although I think it'll be listed on their website after the party's over), but that's the way it has been the last 2 yrs at least, I think they are probably trying to cut back on their inventory going into winter. I'm assuming they'll do it again this year but I guess there's no way to be 100% for sure.
Marilyn--that is so sweet to offer to bring some plants down, I will send you an email! And thanks for the recommendation on the Septiderm, I will definitely try that for my dog. I've been using some oatmeal shampoo that I got at Petco and it works OK, but that stuff definitely sounds better!
You too, Sue. We need to catch up with each other one way or another!
ecrane - I'll bet I have the same oatmeal shampoo you do. It does work pretty well for what it is, but the Septiderm-V IS better. What I like about it is that you can shampoo fairly often, and can put the lotion on in between shampooings, also fairly often. Doesn't seem to dry out his skin. I like Entirely Pets because they have a straight $4.45 shipping charge no matter how much you order.
