It's kind of hard to judge the...SCALE from the photo... how big is it?
I find those here and there in my garden and have yet to ID them, they have always been hatched, so I don't get to collect them and see what comes out.
Those are Katydid eggs

Awww katydids are cool. I don't see them too often, because the trees around our house are pretty tall and they mostly stay up there, but I hear them at night during the summer.
When they do venture down, they have to watch out for my cats if the cats are out for play time (I only let my cats out if I'm watching them). Katydids are such a favorite play toy that the cats recognize the buzzing noise they make and head right for them.
