Gosh I like that one, too! You have so many beauties!
Thanks, I have alot and it came from swapping and trading alot of these fine DGers, plus we had a co-op and I jumped right in and am so glad I did, some I am growing this year for the first time, where others are definite keepers from year to year, this one is a definite keeper, the color is just so striking!
That is very impressive. I really like it.
I've never seen one like that... gorgeous color and variegation... wonderful speckles... I love it... where could I find seeds like those??
Brittany
I originally purchased my seeds thru a co-op on here, and this year I am growing out the seeds I saved from last year, not sure if there are any sellers right now with them or not, but you might check ebay???? or ask on seed trading forum?
oh we have a co-op forum here on DG, for the past few years, someone organized a co-op for the Jap. MG's, uh, would have to do a quick look on either the morning glory forum or the co-op forum but it's usually during the winter months, not sure if anyone is setting one up for this winter or not. But check out the co-op forum here on DG it explains all pretty well, basically someone has a connection, they would offer up certain items, each person would then choose which items they want to buy, they pay the person up front, that person in turn orders (usually getting a discount for us because of the quantity purchased) and anyway they order, when the order comes in, they send your items to you. hope that helps a little bit, there are all kinds of co-ops, hosta, perennials, shrubs, trees, goodness, too many to list, check it out!!

Gorgeous! I love the "speckled" look!!
Some people in Japan with 'connections' to Kyushu University would be a much needed >goldmine...since particular designated strains carrying very specific traits could be 'ordered'...the MG enthusiasts outside of Japan need access to the vast(!) range of genetic variations that Kyushu has cataloged in their seedbank...despite proclamations that their seed is only officially available to properly qualified researches >apparently their strains do 'leak out' and are sometimes offered for sale by merchants on the US based e-bay and 'elsewhere' in Japan...

Thanks so much for the answer OB - (laughing) ANOTHER forum to add to my list of watchers:) Sounds like co-opping is a great adventure that I'll look into.
I really need to look around DG more (as if I'm not on here too much already...!!)
I appreciate your help.
~Sunny
I would also be very interested in participating in the effort to establish contact with the Kyushu University "seed bank guardians" or other sources of unique stock. I've found ways to translate Japanese to English, but haven't tried the reverse... I've gotten no response from attempted English communications.
