One lily lover to another.....have a very special day :0)

Thank you all very, very much! It's been a lovely day, and now I'm going to pick the dirt from my nails and go bake my favorite ~ pineapple upside down cake! Naturally, my version is lo-cal AND nutritious: only 1 stick of butter, a pile of brown sugar.... throw in some fruit and it's practically health food!

Greetings from buddies are the best!
Ron, as for that BBQ ~ take a rain check for mid-October? ;)

I was told (or was it a dream?) that anything made w/ butter and brown sugar yields negative calories, so bake on, baby; bake on!

Johnston, IA(Zone 5a)

Five weeks and three days till we get into that BBQ (but who's counting)
Anytime we get together it doesn't feel like any time has passed since the last time.
The Lily I sent you (above) is 'Firecracker' because you are "dyn-o-mite" :-)

You silver-tongued devil...

Voss, I'm sure that it's pure fact about those negative calories.
MMM, mmmmmm! Who wants a piece of this carmel-y goodness?

Moby,

Happy birthday from northern friends. Ice cream weather still here. Would go well with your yummy looking confection.

What can I do to top that? Best wishes from me to you.

This is Lilium michiganense, because you're . . . er . . . uh . . . not from Michigan (?)

Živio! (Cheers!)

That looks delicious! And so does your dessert, Moby! Happy birthday and may you have many more! (Isn't there a newly discovered lily called L. nebraskiense?)

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5b)

Wow, we just finally got some ice cream weather again.

That L. michiganense is a beaut! How did you know about L. nebraskiense so soon?? I've been working on it ~ the buds are held quite upright and don't open much. However, they have lovely little tufts of silk sticking out of the bud tips. Butterflies aren't much interested but the crows seem to like it. ;)

Thanks, love you all a bunch!

Hope your Birthday was splendid! That carmely goodness looks yummy.

A late Happy Birthday from Lincoln to Lincoln!

It's a long time since I made pineapple upside down cake, now I will have to make one! Scrummy, one my Mum used to make many years ago.

Gotta love that lingo!

Pineapple upsidedown cake is specially good when made with gingerbread recipe.
inanda - thinking of special homecoming cakes I used to make for kiddos.

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5b)

Yes, this cake recipe is an oldie but a goodie, and one that I grew up with. As kids, Mom said we could have ANY cake we wanted for our birthday
(as long at it was homemade).

I think we need to hear about this gingerbread version!

Columbia Heights, MN(Zone 4a)

Happy Belated Bday, Moby.

Yes, Inanda, let's hear more about the gingerbread recipe! I love gingerbread, but would never have thought to put it together with pineapples.
