What's in your garden?

Eau Claire, WI

No, I'm not doing an ad for Capital One. Just curious to hear what's creating some late summer interest in your gardens. The spent flowers (is this correct?) on American Smoketree have turned a very nice pink, and they look almost Syringa-like with the sun shining down on them. Very attractive!

My Chilean Jasmine is blooming, the Seven Sons Shrub is putting on a nice display of blooms and the hardy fuchsia are putting on a non-stop show getting stronger as the season cools.

Aralia spinosa with a Gazillion different types of bees and wasps! All of them are much too interested in the nectar to pay any attention to approaching humanoids with cameras.

Too dark here to snap a picture, but my lowly Joe Pye Weed has been full of bumble bees for 6 weeks now.

Saint Bonifacius, MN(Zone 4a)

The only woody things I have blooming now are shrub roses, Lespedeza thunbergii and Leptodermis oblonga. The seed clusters of Syringa reticulata are ornamental now. Wait, I think I still have a few blooms left on my cassia. Its masses of bean pods are attractive (to some) though too. Lots of herbaceous stuff still blooming, like:
Aralia cordata var. sachalinensis
Vernonia sp. (a 9 ft ironweed)
Liatris ligulistylis (the only liatris that blooms when the monarchs migrate through my state)
several Agastache spp.
Upright sedums
a few spp. of impatiens
Lilium phillipinense and speciosum
Pardanthopsis dichotoma
etc., etc., etc.

It's funny, because the Capital One ad is the first thing that popped into my head too.

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

My invasive tree is blooming, but Lauren's bloodpressure would max out if I posted that. So I'll add this instead.
