Can anyone ID the maple seed without the benefit of it's leaves?

It's not in the "snake bark" group but it's a similar sized tree!.....

Based on your size hint, I'd guess Mountain Maple (Acer spicatum), but the seed doesn't look quite right for that species.
It's A. spicatum for sure!...There were lots of Striped Maple in the vicinity also. The pinkish hues were what got my attention initially but that may just be an anomaly.
